Charlotte Flames Hockey: Welcome
Hello Charlotte Flames,
This will be the last official announcement from the Charlotte Flames. In mid-December the Flames began working with our very own AHL Charlotte Checkers to assist in building a youth hockey association that encompasses the entire city. Through several meetings, phone calls, text messages and emails the Board of Directors have decided to disband the Flames and endorse this vision.
The vision of the AHL Checkers is very solid and has even received endorsements from as high as the Carolina Hurricanes. We realize there are uncertainties amongst our families, but feel strongly that if given the chance you will agree this is what is best for our hockey community. The Checkers and the two rinks have discussed a cooperative effort that would create a local metro league for House players which would begin in the 2011-2012 season. The concept is still under review, and the Checkers and rinks will communicate directly with their customers regarding any developments.
The Flames Board is very proud of our relationship with the Ice House and cannot express enough gratitude towards the management and staff. Without the Ice House the Flames would not have existed. This is a great facility and we truly wish them all the best.
Although the current product for this coming season does not reflect the long term vision yet, it does give you options to explore with both the Pineville Icehouse (www.pinevilleice.com) and the Extreme Ice Center (www.xicenter.com). With tryouts rapidly approaching, we trust you will do what’s best for your family. It has been a pleasure to serve the needs of our association and wish you and yours the very best of luck in the upcoming season.
Sincerely,
Charlotte Flames Board of Directors
