*** CFC Spring 2010 News ***

CFC Teams Enjoy A Good Spring Season

The CFC Fire U-11 Girls team won the championship of the 2010 WVSA Open Cup in Parkersburg, WV on June 12 & 13. The Fire played the RVSC Wave for the championship. The game ended in a 0-0 tie, but the Fire prevailed 2-0 in a penalty shootout. The Fire end a very successful spring season, with a 10-4-2 record.

The CFC Fire U-11 Girls team played in the 2010 Darrell Moore Classic in Beckley, WV on May 8 & 9. The Fire competed in a combined U-11 / U-12 bracket for this tournament and took home their  second finalist trophy of the spring with a 3-1 record. The Fire offense outscored their oponents 14-4 in four games and the defense shutout the oposition  in 3 of the 4 games.

The CFC Elite U11 Boys team traveled to Columbus, OH to play in the Nike Challenge Cup on April 24-25 and came away with its second tournament championship, beating a tough GNA Manchester team 2-0 in the final.   The team again went 4-0 on the weekend, and they now have their sights on going 3 for 3 in tournaments this spring when they travel later this month to Ohio to play in the Marietta Soccer Classic.  Way to go guys!

The CFC Fury U-14 boys team won the championship of the TASC Beat the Heat Showcase Tournament held on April 24 & 25 in Winston Salem, NC. The boys went 3-0 in the first division of this tournament and outscored their opponents 10-1 in their 3 games.

The CFC Elite U-17 girls team is off to a great start this spring season. So far the team has posted  5 wins and 2 loses on the season. The girls finished the Raleigh Showcase with a 2-1 record and they finished the Orange Classic with a 3-1 record. It appears the team is well on their way to their 6th straight state championship.

The CFC Goal Rush - White U-10 girls team won the championship of the Mccrady Jones Kick Off held on March 27 & 28 in Parkersburg, WV. The girls went 4-0 in this tournament on their way to their first championship of the spring.

The CFC Elite U-11 boys team won the Middletown Spring Blast held on March 20 & 21 in Middletown, OH. The boys finished the tournament with a 4-0 record on their way to their first championship of the spring.

The CFC Fire U-11 girls team competed in the St. Patrick's Day Cup on March 12 & 13, in Columbia, SC. The Fire finished this tournament undefeated with 3 wins, 0 loses, and 1 tie. This record tied the Fire for first place.  Unfortunatly with no championship game the Fire had to settle for the second place trophy due goal difirential in the tie breaking rules of the tournament.

 In Memoriam........Louie Molina

It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that we share with you the terrible news that Louie Molina passed away on July 16th.  Sami ( U16 girls ) and Alex ( U18 boys ) were so fortunate to have Louie as their Dad.  He was a generous man who lived for his five children and his wife Dawn and was always willing to help wherever needed.  Marty and Thomas were fortunate enough to attend his memorial service and simply judging by the hundreds of people at the visitation service he sure will be missed.  He was a terrific man and we were lucky to have known him.
