Challenger Little League of Lancaster

Welcome to

CHALLENGER Little League of Lancaster County

HAPPY NEW YEAR - and another CHALLENGER Little League season (our 27th) is just around the corner.

We have exciting news to share with each of you - Challenger Little League of Lancaster County is now officially chartered through Little League International (LLI) in Williamsport and has an official Board of Directors. At the inaugural Board Meeting - in addition to discussing and approving paperwork required by LLI - a lot of discussion was held regarding the upcoming season especially as it relates to the NEW “Senior League Challenger Division" (SLCD).

As established and required by LLI the breakdown is as follows (using
August 1, 2015 as the cut off date): children 14 and under must play in the Little League Challenger Division (LLCD); individuals 15 to 18 years old have the option of playing in either LLCD or SLCD; individuals 19 and above with no upper age limit must play in the SLCD. At this time, as we are unaware of how many SLCD players we will have, we are not able to identify how many SLCD teams there will be - but we will definitely have at least one SLCD "All Star" team composed of those players who desire a more competitive atmosphere (similar to our "seniors" last year) and are able to protect themselves while batting and fielding. This All-Star team will not play against the other SLCD teams and will hopefully continue to play against other local LL teams like in past years.

It is important to note that the Board is well aware that the new age
breakout will impact many of our prior players over 18 who have been on the same team for years and we will work to keep those players moving up - together on our new SLCD team (team names to be decided later). It is important to also note some of the volunteer coaches may have players who would likely be moving up to the new SLCD.

As a reminder – our season extends from mid-April through end of June – and will allow all individuals with special needs the opportunity to experience baseball through "Spring Training", Opening Ceremony traditions and a slate of eight games!

If anyone has questions – or is interested in volunteering as a coach – please contact Mike Tafelski via email or phone  (717-682-0938).
