Jamboree FAQs
To maximize your enjoyment, here are some helpful tips
in planning your trip to the 2011 Jamboree.
Supplies
• Can I
bring backpacks, picnic blankets, baby stroller’s etc? Yes.
• Things to
bring: Lawn chairs, bug spray, rain gear.
• Things not to bring: Glass
containers, grills, fireworks or anything else illegal.
Weather
• What are the summer weather
temperatures? Air 87 Water 79.
• Will there be a shaded area? Yes. but shaded
space is limited.
• Is
there a covered, day area at the site in case it rains? Yes, but space is
limited to outside tents in the picnic area.
• Dress
comfortably, put on some sunscreen, perhaps wear a hat to protect yourself from
the sun.
Special Accommodations
• Are there handicap
accessibility bathroom facilities? Yes, there are handicapped stalls located in
the restrooms of the main building and additional handicapped port-a-potties
located at various locations throughout the complex.
Seating
• Ball Park seating?
• Are lawn
chairs or picnic blankets permitted? Yes.
Health Services
• Will there be a medical
tent? Yes, There will be an EMS station located by the flag pool in front of the
playground.
• How far is the closest hospital? The closest hospital, Sentara
Leigh Memorial, is less than 5 miles from the complex. Additionally,
Children's Hospital of the Kings Daughter is located in downtown Norfolk.
Attractions At The Site
• What type of
booths will be there? In addition to the main concession, there will be
mini-concessions and stands selling cotton candy, snow cones, hamburgers,
hotdogs, soda, water, etc.
• Will there be things for kids to do? Yes,
besides the playground area, there will be a variety of games for children of
all ages.
• Special activities for families? Yes, family and friends are
encouraged to attend the team picnic Saturday afternoon and breakfast on Sunday
morning. Tickets will be on sale at the complex.
Parking
• How close to the site can we park?
While we try to park as many cars as we can in the immediate area, they may be a
short walk for some. Please let the parking attendants know of any special
needs you may have.
• Will there be a shuttle service? No.
• Will there
be security at parking areas? No.
• Will cars be blocked, or able to leave at
will? Cars will be parked so everyone can leave at their will.
• Is there handicap parking? Yes.
• Free parking.
• Can we
bring bikes? Yes, but also bring lock.
Food
• Can we bring our food? Yes.
• What
type of food vendors will there be? Typical Ball Park menu.
• Are there
picnic areas? There is a covered eating area...first come first serve. .
• Will there be
beer sold or consumed on the premises? No, alcohol is not permitted.
• Bring along cash for food and
beverages. Credit Cards are not accepted.
Accommodations
• Are there bathroom
facilities, washrooms, etc? Yes, there a full bathroom facilities in the main
building.
• Local hotels, and places to stay? Yes, there are many
hotels within a short range of complex.
Pets
• Are pets allowed on the site? No.
(except service animals)
Safety Equipment
All teams are required to
bring their own safety equipment; this is to include NOCSAE approved batting
helmets and full catcher gear which must include a dangling throat guard,.
on all catcher masks.
Scheduling
In order to properly
plan for events and schedule games the attached roster and special event
form MUST be filled out completely and MUST
be received no later than APRIL 23, 2011.
Manager & Coaches are required to provide address, phone & email
(if possible) on the roster. If there is a problem and you will not be able to
follow through with this please contact one of the committee members. We will
try to accommodate each team’s scheduling needs. Please note on the roster
forms if your team is available to play on Sunday. Game schedules will be
distributed
at the pre-tournament meeting Friday night.

guidelines have been established for playing the baseball games as follows:
