Central Mass Xplosion: Welcome

"Winners have formed the habit of doing the things loser's don't like to do"

     For the 2010 season,Central Mass Xplosion will field two travel teams. The 14U Class A travel team will be coached by Butch Salmi and assited by Charlie Gatsios, Mike Plourde and Craig Sylvester. Butch is a well known pitching coach in New England, and has coached many travel teams and State Champions in his career. Mike, Charlie, and Craig have coached many years in youth softball leagues and their teams have won numerous State titles.The team is based in Worcester, MA and is made up of players from Worcester County. They will compete in ASA, PONY, and NSA Softball Tournaments. The team will also play an extensive schedule of fall softball. The main goal for the 14U team, is to expose our young players to the tough competition that travel softball offers, and to teach our players strong defensive and offensive fundamentals.

  The 16U Class A team is coached by Dan Santerre and Michelle Cote. The team is based in Worcester MA and has players from Norteastern CT, Western MA, and Worcester County. The 16U team will compete in ASA, NSA, College Showcase tournaments, as well as the ASA Eastern National Championship in 2010. They will compete at the 16U and the 18U level. Our main focus is to showcase our players to college coaches. Dan is a former Assumption College / Nichols College Head Softball Coach and 1995-96 Northeast 10 Softball Coach of the Year. He has coached at the Collegiate level for 11 years and directed numerous softball camps and clinics throughout the Central MA area. Dan is presently the Director of "The Hit Club", a hitting facility that works with elite hitters in Northeastern CT. Michelle is an Assumption College Graduate and a four time Northeast 10 All Conference 1st baseman and a member of the Assumption College Athletic Hall of Fame.She also was an Assistant Softball Coach at Nichols College / Assumption College and is presently the Assistant Softball Coach at Worcester State College.

     Dan and Michelle's philosophy is based around the principal's of F.E.D.S.:

   and play Smarter than your opponent

     CMX will place a strong emphasis on teaching basic fundamentals, solid defense and a very aggressive style of offense. Team speed, bunting and slapping will be a large part of our offensive strategy.

5. Always give 100 % in games and practices. Never be able to say "I
    could have played harder"
