Monday, November 162010 Division 2 Challenger Little League Sign-ups
The Challenger Division, which was established in 1989 as a separate division of Little League Baseball and Softball, enables boys and girls with physical and mental disabilities, ages 5-18 or the completion of high school, to enjoy the game of baseball along with the millions of other children who participate in this sport worldwide.
There are nearly 1,800 teams and more than 26,000 players in Little League's Challenger Division.

Dates and Sites for 2010 Little League World Series
SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (Nov. 13, 2009) – The dates and sites for the eight Little League World Series tournaments in 2010 were approved today by the Little League International Board of Directors, it was announced by Stephen D. Keener, President and Chief Executive Officer of Little League Baseball and Softball.
The Little League International Board of Directors wrapped up two days of meetings this afternoon with one of the many items on the agenda, the approval of the dates for the 2010 Little League World Series tournaments in both baseball and softball.
The sites for the eight championship tournaments remained the same for the seventh consecutive year.
The Big League Baseball World Series will kick off the month of championship tournaments to determine the top teams in the world in each division. Easley, S.C. will serve as the home for the Big League tournament for the 10th year as the oldest age division in baseball conducts its 41st championship beginning July 28.
The four softball tournaments then take center stage beginning with the Big League tournament in Kalamazoo, Mich. on Aug. 5. The Senior League (Lower Sussex, Del.) begins its championship on Aug. 8, and is followed by the Little League (Portland, Ore.) division on Aug. 12, and the Junior League (Kirkland, Wash.) on Aug. 15.
Junior League (Taylor, Mich.) and Senior League (Bangor, Maine) Baseball tournaments also begin on Aug. 15 before the Little League Baseball World Series begins its 10-day run on Aug. 20 in South Williamsport, Pa.
The annual 32-game showcase of the top 11- and 12-year-old teams in the world will play the U.S. and International championship games on Saturday, Aug. 28 with the title game scheduled for the following day. The Park View Little League squad from Chula Vista, Calif. extended the streak of U.S. champions to five with a 6-3 victory over the Asia-Pacific representative in the 2009 tournament.
Little League Baseball and Softball is the world’s largest organized youth sports program, with nearly 2.6 million players and 1 million adult volunteers in every U.S. state and scores of other countries.

Big League Baseball (16-18-year olds) July 28 to Aug. 4 – Easley, S.C. (Easley Recreation Complex) – 10th season in Easley; 41st season overall
Big League Softball (14-18-year-old girls) Aug. 5 to Aug. 11 – Kalamazoo, Mich. (Vanderberg Park) - 18th season in Kalamazoo; 29th season overall
Senior League Softball (14-16-year-old girls) Aug. 8 to Aug. 14 – Lower Sussex, Del. (Pyle Center) – 7th season in Lower Sussex; 35th season overall
Little League Softball (11-12-year-old girls) Aug. 12 to Aug. 18 – Portland, Ore. (Alpenrose Stadium) - 17th season on Portland; 37th season overall
Junior League Softball (13-14-year-old girls) Aug. 15 to Aug. 21 – Kirkland, Wash. (Everest Park) – 12th season in Kirkland; 12th season overall
Junior League Baseball (13-14-year-olds) Aug. 15 to Aug. 21 – Taylor, Mich. (Heritage Park) – 30th season in Taylor; 30th season overall

Recently specialty Facebook and Twitter pages were created for Little League Softball, the Little League Urban Initiative, the Challenger Division, the Teenage baseball divisions (Juniors, Seniors, and Big League), and the Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum.

CLL/District 2 Big League in Western Region Tournament

UPDATE 7/25: Our Big League Team narrowly lost yesterday against Southern California District 13 in their Western Region Final game. They lost by 1 run (NV-3 South CA-4) in another tight game. This places the Team in 2nd Place for Western Region Finals but ends their season for the year. The Southern California Team from Thousand Oaks goes forward to the Big League World Series in Easly, South Carolina. The World Series begins this coming Wednesday, 29 July 2009.
Our Pitching/Fielding must have been great as the Team held SoCal to only 4 runs, their lowest production of the Tournament. SoCal must have also had a great Pitching/Fielding Combination as we were also held to our lowest run production of the Tournament.
In the Consolation game for 3rd place, Arizona beat Hawaii handily (AZ-4 HA-0).
Our Team returns home tonight to McCarren.
UPDATE 7/24: Our Big League Team triumphed again yesterday against Arizona District 2 in their Semi-Final game! They won by 1 run (NV-8 AZ-7)in another tight game. This places the Team in Western Region Finals against Southern California District 13 today. Southern California beat Hawaii soundly yeasterday in the other Semi-Final game (South CA-7, HA-1).
Arizona will play Hawaii in the Consolation game for 3rd place at 4PM. Our Team will then take on Southern California for the Championship at 7PM. Great Luck to our Big League Champions !!!

UPDATE 7/23: Our Big League Team triumphed yesterday against Hawaii Kihei Little League by 1 run (NV-6 HA-5). This places the Team in 1st Place Tie with Hawaii with a 3-1 record with the Tie-Breaker going to our Team because of the win today. In the rest of the Pool play: Northern California beat Washington (WA-5 North CA-6) which ties them both at 2-2, and the Montana remained at 0-4.
In the other Pool, Southern California beat Arizona (AZ-6 South CA-7) which places Southern California in 1st Place and Arizona in 2nd Place for the Pool. Washington District 2 beat Oregon (WA D#2-11 OR-1) to finish 1-2 and Oregon finished 0-3.
Our Team plays Arizona and Southern California plays Hawaii today in the Semi-Finals.
UPDATE 7/22: Our Big League Team had another great game yesterday against Northern California District 59. The Team won by 5 runs (North CA-5 NV-10) with another strong batting performance. This places the Team in a 2nd Place Tie with Washington District 7 with a 2-1 record but the Tie-Breaker goes to Washington due to our loss to them on Monday. In the rest of the Pool play: the Hawaii Team had a rest day and are still 3-0, Northern California drops to 1-2,and the Montana drops to 0-4. Our Team plays Hawaii today and Washington plays Northern California.
In the other Pool, Southern California and Arizona are tied at 2-0 and Oregon and Washington District 2 are at 0-2. Southern California has had their bats on fire scoring 18 runs in each game. Southern California and Arizona play today with the decision determining which will be the 1st and 2nd seed in B Pool for the Semi-Finals.
UPDATE 7/21: Our Big League Team split the Double-header yesterday, 20 July. They lost the first game against WA District 7 by 2 runs (WA-9 NV-7). The second game against Montana District 1 was a strong win by 13 runs (NV-15 MT-2). However, Montana is now 0-3. In the rest of the Pool play, the Hawaii Team is 3-0 and the other teams are 1-1. Our Team plays Northern California today and Hawaii tomorrow.
Our CLL/District 2 Big League Team will be playing 4 other district teams in their pool play for the West Regional Tournament: Montana District 1 (Billings MT), Hawaii Kihei Little League (Kihei HI), Northern California District 59 (Milpitas CA), and Washington District 7(Southern Seattle WA Area).
The Team plays pool play games as follows: a double-header on the 20th, a game on the 21st, and a game on the 22nd.
A 1st or 2nd place finish in pool play gets them to the Semi-Finals against the 1st or 2nd place finishers of the other pool play. This pool includes: Southern California District 13 (Thousand Oaks CA), Oregon District 2 (Portland, OR), Arizona District 2 (West Phoenix AZ Area), and the Host Team Washington District 2 (Bremerton OR Area).
A win in the Semi-Finals goes to the Finals. A loss to the consolation game.
A win in the Finals goes to the World Series in Easly, South Carolina.

CLL Big League Repeats as Nevada State Champion -- CONGRATULATIONS ! ! !

The District 2 Big League team has once again claimed the Nevada State Championship. They will travel to Seattle, Washington, July 18-25 to participate in the West Regional Tournament.
The Team worked hard at the Fireworks Booth to help cover the costs for their upcoming trip. However, Sponsors are needed to also help cover those costs. If you know any one or business that would be interested in helping to sponsor the Big League on its quest to the World Series, please call the CLL info number (646-3334) and leave the potential Sponsor's name and contact info as well as your name and contact info.

Pitch Count Rule Chart Available
The pitch-count rule chart for all age groups is now available on-line to help scorekeepers and managers follow league mandated pitch-count rules. The chart is available in the Handouts section or the Handouts link below can be used. It is suggested that the chart be printed and made availabel to all managers and scorekeepers.
