Baseball Tournament Canceled: Workers needed for golf tourny

First off: Baseball tournament this weekend (June 24-26) has been canceled. Apparently Fountain City Ballpark double-booked. Very few boosters had signed up to work the tournament. That should free folks up for the golf tourny.

Speaking of working tournaments. Workers are needed for Friday, June 24 golf tournament.  It starts at 8:30am so workers need to be there before then. It should be over by early afternoon.  Players can work the tourny. It's at Three Ridges Golf Course.  Call Jeff Headrick at 661-8105 by Wednesday if you are able to help.

Still time to buy ads for the program. Another way to help support the team and wish your player luck! Wendy Turner, Brandon's mom, is taking care of the program. Thanks, Wendy!

Seniors also need to get baby pictures in for the program.  Adam Brock's dad, Wes Dagnan, is taking care of that. Thanks, Wes, for helping out with that!

The purpose of the CHS Football Booster Club is to support our Bobcats. It takes a lot of people doing a few things to help raise funds to outfit the team, feed the players before games, and help with facilities maintanance. It's always impressive to visit a school that has a strong booster club presence--we can do that here, too!

We'll send out an email notice and post on Central High Facebook page as well as this site regarding our next booster club meeting.

Booster Club Meeting and more

Our next booster club meeting is Monday, June 13, 6:30pm at the field house.   Please remember booster club fee of $5 per person is due.  This is one of the ways we raise funds--and while it's a small amount every little bit helps.

Spirit pack $ is due to Coach Hassell by Friday, June 10. Your players have been given info on this. The packs are UnderArmour gear. Sizes and styles taken at time of order.   If you choose not to purchase the spirit pack, please provide your player's own cleats, shorts, t-shirts and socks. All these items need to be black and can be purchased at at any store--the only requirement is the color (for instance--black Hanes t-shirts and socks meet that requirement).

The players have also been given info on insurance $32 insurance due, for which the player will receive four jamboree tickets to either use or sell to recoup the insurance $.

Speaking of fundraising... There are still slots open in the CHS Booster Club Golf Tournament. ($300 per team to play or $75 per individual).. More importantly, hole sponsorships are still available! What a GREAT way to support your Bobcats AND advertise or just say thank you. Ask alumni, your boss, your neighbor or your elected officials if they'd like to sponsor  a tee or hole at the event. Sponsorship opportunities from $30 to $400 (and beyond) are available.  -Contact Tobi Kilgore at tobi.kilgore@knoxschools.org or 689-1429 for more information....Did we mention we'll be giving away (thanks to Ray Varner Ford!!) a car for a hole-in-1 on specified hole?? Friday, June 24, shotgun start at 8:30am..lunch provided after tournament. Three Ridges Golf Course.

Baseball tournament (another fundraiser)....Fri-Sun, June 24-26 @ Fountain City Park. Opportunity for teams in region to participate. We need gate workers and trash collectors throughout the weekend. Contact Steve Trewhitt or Johnny Raley for more info... Steve's email is sevy1220@yahoo.com and Johnny's email is jraley@raleystanning.com

We REALLY need to sell ads for our program (these are really nice looking pieces--with rosters and team photos)... Deadline to turn in ad/$ is July 1. This is a GREAT opportunity to buy an ad wishing your individual team/player luck during the season. Contact Wendy Turner for more information. Her email is wendyturner4013@yahoo.com.

We are also looking for people to sponsor team meals. It takes a lot to get these Bobcats fueled up for the games--and we feed them before every game. We will also be looking for people-power to help out with the meals.

We've GOT to get a baby photo of your not so young/little baby.  These will go into the football program.  Contact Wes Dagnan (Adam Brock's dad) at bcjdnj@bellsouth.net

Last count is 16 seniors...WOW! To continue a tradition, senior parents feed/host the seniors every Thursday night before Friday games. In the past, parents have hosted them individually at their house, they've paired up to host them at someone's house, they've even hosted them at local eateries.  That's a total of 10 meals for seniors through the season. Please contact me about hosting the seniors and let's get those on the calendar.

New Bobcat Coach Named

Tuesday, April 5
Welcome Coach Hassell and Company!

Unofficial count showed about 100 folks and players turned out to meet our new coaching staff.  Coach Joe Hassell told the crowd how fortunate he feels to have earned the head job at one of the premier programs in the region.  Larry Smith, president of the CHS Alumni and Foundation, said the community needs to back Hassell and his team. "We need to do what needs to be done," Smith said. "They have the best interests of your kids at heart. Let's pack the stands!"

Hassell said he wants to expand the program and foster strong parental support for the program. "The kids need parents here. They need to see their parents working here," Hassell said. "We have a core group of people who work in the booster club, but we need more. This gym is full, and we need you. If you have time, we can use you."

On that note, the NEXT booster club meeting is set for Tuesday, April 12 at 6:30pm at the fieldhouse. There's lots to accomplish this summer, but with everyone's help, we can get it done!

Coach Hassell has received clarification on TSSAA rules and 8th graders are welcomed to work out with team members after school each day.  Parents will need to fill out a release form. Weight lifting typically ends between 5 and 5:30 each day.

The calendar to the left lists the CHS pre-season calendar events through May 16.
