COOKEVILLE -- As the head coach for the Cookeville wrestling team,
Scott Cook put his stamp on the Cavaliers and developed a tough,
physical group that has become a statewide contender each year.
As the newest head coach for the Cavalier football team, he expects that program to be the same type of group.
"It's the same mentality," said Cook, a 14-year CHS assistant coach who was named head coach Wednesday morning. "That's something I've tried to bring to the players in both sports that I've coached. It's just being tough, mentally tough and pushing through the tough moments and being tougher than your opponent.

"That's what I want to bring here. I think we've done a pretty good job
of that with Cookeville football in the past, and we'll continue to
build on that and be as physically and mentally tough as we can possibly
be."
Cook takes over for longtime coach Jerry Joslin, who stepped down in April to take the same position at Nashville's Pope John Paul II. And having the new title is something Cook is happy for.
"I'm excited. I can't even describe how excited I am," Cook said. "I'm so fired up, I wish we could line up and play tomorrow. But I love this program, I love this community, and I'm excited about how hard these guys are working right now and how committed they are. The coaching staff is excited and really committed to the program, and I just think we've got a great thing here. We're ready to get to work."
