Catholic Memorial Crusaders: News & Past Years Standings

Saturday, July 11
Non-conference @ St. Thomas More
In what was a great day to be alive, CMH fell one run short of Woodland Conference leader Thomas More.  Ty, Grant and Chuck split pitching duties, allowing only 5 hits but walking several.  Derek had two hits including a solo HR (2 RBI), Kozie was 3x3 with 2 RBI, and Wes also had two hits.

Thursday, July 9
@ the U
Arrowhead continued their undefeated conference journey by stopping the Crusaders 5-1.  CMH's lone hit was by Matt Calhoun.  Derek pitched well but gave up some big hits in the 5th.  Andy stopped the U in the 6th and 7th.

Wednesday, July 8
Kettle Moraine
Althought CMH was down 6-0 after two and 12-8 after 5, Ty's booming 3 run homer in the bottom of the 6th tied the game at 12 runs each.  Unfortunately the pitching didn't hold up in the 7th as the winning run was walked in.   The team also had an uncharacteristic 5 errors.  Charlie pitched well but unfortunately gave up two 2-run homers to KM. He also was a torrid 3x3 at the plate.  JC and Kozie each had 2 hits, and Trevor hit a bases loaded double and finished the day with 4 RBI's.

Monday, July 6
@ West
Andy goes 6 2/3 innings and keeps the West batters off-balance; allows only 3 hits in 94 pitch night.  Freshman Teddy Rindahl got the start at 2B in place of the injured Casey Kula and played well defensively. Trevor's two-run dinger in 6th is game winner as CMH wins a great baseball game by a score of 3-2.

Thursday, July 2
Mukwonago
JR Crusader Night!  A great turnout to celebrate the U10 through U14 youth teams.  It was a good, fun game, but CMH lost to Muk for the second time this year.  Derek had two triples, JC had a big double, and Trevor had two hits.

Wednesday, July 1
Non-conference game @ Menomonee Falls

Freshman Chuck Walsh makes pitching debut, gives up no runs in 2-1/3 innings while striking out 2 and walking 2.  Trevor had two hits and 2 RBI, Wes had 2 hits and scored 2 times, JC had 2 RBI and Matt and Tom West each had one Run Batted In.  Good game, but CMH takes the loss.

Tuesday, June 30
@ Pius
Two hits and three errors by the Crusaders; Pius takes the series 2 games to 1.

Monday, June 29
Waukesha South

The rain held off and the Memorial bats came alive in a nail-biting 13-10 victory over South.  Derek pitched 6 innings before Wes had to mop up in the 7th.  In the 5th and 6th innings the Crusaders were able to plate 10 runs, led by a booming HR by Senior Steve Kozak.  Steve has gone 5 x 5 in the last two games.  Casey had two hits and two stolen bases before leaving the game with a high ankle sprain.  David Chapin smacked a run scoring double, and Matt Calhoun had a big hit and RBI in the 6th.  JC showed good patience by walking three times.

Friday, June 26
@ Waukesha South
CMH had 13 hits to South's 8, but South was able to score more runs and defeat the Crusaders by a score of 9-7.   Steve Kozak went 3 for 3 and drove in two runs.  Wes had 3 hits and three RBI's.

Thursday, June 25
@ Waukesha North
Memorial's big lead gets WALKED on by North; CMH still prevails.  Derek and Wes go yard on back-to-back at bats.  CMH maintains second place in the Classic 8.

Wednesday, June 24
Waukesha West

Congratulations to Seniors: Andy Suchorski (Marquette University), Matt Calhoun (Marquette University), Wes Stasik (Missouri University of Science & Technology), Grant Kula (Loyola University), and Steve Kozak (University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee).

Great pitching by West and lack of hitting dooms CMH on Senior Night; West prevails 5-1.

Tuesday, June 23
Arrowhead
Arrowhead remains unbeaten; downs CMH who doesn't play well defensively.

Monday, June 22
@ Kettle Moraine

Big hit with bases loaded stymies Memorial, who lose to KM 9-7.  Trevor was 2 x 3 with 3 RBI's and 3 stolen bases. The team batted out 10 hits and stole 10 bases.

Memorial wins big in Nicolet
It was a surreal event: 21 runs, all earned, including 4 home runs in which 2 were grand slams; all in the FIRST INNING. Even if you were there it was hard to believe what you were seeing. The top of inning number one saw home runs by Nick Paffhausen (Grand Slam), Jack Murphy (Grand Slam), Jeff Kinear (three runs) and Brian Lewicki (back to back with Murphy). We batted around the order three times before the half-inning was retired.

Jeff Kinear added a second home run in inning number two. The game ended after 5 innings with the score of 29-4.

The second game of the day also feature home runs by Charlie Scharij and Ty Johnson. That game was won after five innings as well, by a score of 15-5.

This picture shows the players who hit home runs today, minus Brian Lewicki who was still trying to locate his ball that went over the fence.
