2006 Softball Jr. League Champs
Sunday, October 15
Congratulations To Girls Softball
The Cartersville Junior League fastpitch softball team swept the state!  They went undefeated in the regional play which was hosted in Cartersville.  The next stop was in West Point Ga for the Georgia State Tournament.  They faced Harris County, West Point, and Toccoa in their pool play.  Once again, the team went undefeated and won the Championship game.  The Southern Regional Tournament was held in Fort Myers Florida.  Representing the state of Georgia, the team defeated Tennessee, then ran into a strong Florida team.  Florida was definatly the team to beat this year.  Georgia lost to Florida by a score of 7-1.  On a positive note, team Georgia was then ONLY team to score a run on Florida in the entire tournament!  Florida went on to win the World Series which was held in Kincade, Washington.  Only one other team was able to score a run on Florida , (Central - Ohio).  Congratulations to the team for a great season and representing the state of Georgia with great sportsmanship!

Team Georgia from Cartersville lost only to Virginia in the Championship game, after defeating West Virginia, Tennessee, Florida and North Carolina. Team Virginia went on to the Senior League World Series held in Bangor, Maine and ended up losing to Venezuela in a semifinal matchup. Venezuela went on to defeat Hawaii in the Championship game to become the 2006 Senior League World Champions.
