Hickory Tournament - March 6-7
The Carolina Angles had their first tournament on March 6th and 7th in Newton, N.C. On March 6th the Angels faced the Carolina Vipers in Game #1. The Angels won that game 14-1. Game #2 of the day saw the Angels face the St. Stephens Blaze. The Angels won that game as well beating the Blaze 6-4. On March 7th the Angels faced the Carolina Copperheads in their 1st game. The Angels held the Copperheads off and won that game 2-0. Game #2 of the day pitted the Angels against the Carolina Sting. The Angels found their bats and won that game 12-5 to advance to the Championship game. The Championship game brought the Angels and the St. Stephens Blaze back together again. The Blaze came out strong and scored 3 runs in the 1st. The Angels came back and scored 2 runs of their own. In the 2nd inning, the Blaze and the Angels each added a run to make the score 4-3, Blaze. The Angels turned it on in the 3rd and scored 4 runs to go ahead of the Blaze 7-4. It was all Angels after that. Everyone had a fantastic game and a GREAT first tournament to finish the Championship game with a 9-4 victory! Winning Pitcher: Kyle Humphrey

Greensboro Tournament - March 12-14
The Angels headed to Greensboro for their first AAU Tournament. Game #1 was held on a cold Friday night. The Angels faced the South Wake Storm. The Angels went up 3-0 in the 1st inning. In the 3rd the Storm fought back and scored 4 of their own to make the score 4-3. The Angels added 3 in the 4th to make the score 6-4. The Storm scored 2 more in the 6th but the Angels also added 1 when Micah Wells got a base hit to drive a run in. The Angels won 7-6. Saturday's game #1 wasn't pretty. The Burlington Astros jumped on the bats and scored early. The Astros led 4-0 going into the 4th inning. The Angels fought back but fell short losing the game in the 6th inning 4-6. Game #2 was much better. The Angels took their time but managed to get those bats swinging hard by the 3rd inning. The Sanford Buzz gave it their all but the Angels wouldn't back down. The Angels defeated the Buzz 4-3 in 6 innings to take them to the Championship Game. The big Sunday Championship Game saw the Carolina Angels facing the Carolina Lightning. The Lightning were shut down at the plate but the Angels "flew". The Angels took the lead in the 1st inning 4-0. In the 2nd inning it was more of the same when the Angels added 5 more to make the score 9-0. The Angels just wouldn't quit and scored 3 more in the 3rd inning to make the score 12-0. In the 4th inning the Lightning got their 1st run on the board. That's where it ended with the Angels winning their first AAU Championship 12-1. Winning Pitcher: Brandon Gray

Concord Tournament - March 26-28
The Carolina Angels traveled to Concord this weekend for the Concord AAU Pizza Hut National Invitational Tournament. The first game of the tournament was Saturday afternoon where the Angels took on the Carolina Lightning. The Angels hung tough in the 1st inning leading the Lightning 4-2. Unfortunately for the Angels, it was all downhill after that. The Lightning added 9 runs in the 2nd inning and didn't look back. The Angels were defeated 4-14. Game #2 on Saturday found the Angels ready to fight with the Americans. The Angels scored 4 runs in the 1st inning, added 2 in the 2nd inning, and 2 more in the 5th inning to end the game with a 8-5 victory.
Winning Pitchers: Brandon Gray, Kyle Humphrey, Jason Smith
The Angels headed back to Concord on Sunday for a 9am game against the Carolina Outlaws. The Angels couldn't get those bats on the ball and the Outlaws defeated the Angels 3-5. The second game of the day saw the Angels facing the South Wake Storm. The Angels came out strong in the 1st inning and scored 3 runs, while the Storm scored none. In the 2nd inning the Angels lost those bats again. The Storm put 8 on the board and never looked back. The Angels tried to rally back adding 2 runs in the 3rd, 3 runs in the 4th, and 2 runs in the 5th. But Father Time wasn't on our side and the game was called as our time limit ran out. The Angels will regroup this week and head into the Greensboro Tournament with their heads held high ready to start anew!
REMEMBER: We win as a team, we lose as a team. Individuals are not responsible for loses!!!!

Greensboro Tournament April 3-4
The Carolina Angels traveled to Greensboro this weekend for their 4th tournament of the Spring Season. Game #1 on Saturday morning found the Angels taking on the Garner Trojans. The Angels jumped ahead in the 1st inning, 0-1. In the 2nd, the Trojans fought back and scored 3 runs. The Angels followed up with 4 of their own to make the score 3-5. The Angels stopped the Trojans in the 3rd and put up 3 runs of their own to make the score 3-8. The Trojans scored 1 in the 4th and the Angels busted loose and scored 4 to make the score 4-12. The Trojans got one more and the Angels stayed at 12, for a final score of 5-12. Winning Pitchers: Kyle Humphrey, Micah Wells
The 2nd game for the Angels on Saturday was against the tough Wilmington Sharks. Neither team could score in the first 2 innings. In the 3rd inning, the Angels scored one on a sacrifice, to make the score 0-1. Neither team scored in the 4th inning. In the 5th inning, the Angels posted another run. The Sharks couldn't score in the 6th and the game ended with a 0-2 score to give the Angels the victory! Winning Pitcher: Brandon Gray
Oh my, Sunday wasn't a good day for the Angels. The Angels faced the home team GBC Falcons. Neither team posted a run in the 1st inning. In the 2nd inning, both teams got a run on the board to make the score 1-1. In the 3rd inning, the Falcons scored 2 runs to go ahead of the Angels 3-1. Somewhere, somehow the Falcons scored 5 runs and the Angels scored 7 runs to tie the game at 8 all. It was ugly after that. In the 6th inning the Falcons ran away with the game and scored 9 runs. The Angels never gave up and got 2 runs of their own to end the game 17-10. Great effort boys!!
The Angels with take next weekend off to sit back and regroup, calm down, and get ready for Concord.

Concord AAU Spring State Championships April 16-18
The Carolina Angels traveled to Concord this weekend for the 2004 AAU Spring State Championships. The Angels faced the Carolina Lightning on Friday night at 7pm. The Angels couldn't seem to find their bats and fell to the Lightning 9-4. The Angels were back in action Saturday at 1pm playing the Durham Dodgers. Once again the bats weren't cooperating for the Angels and they fell to the Dodgers 9-7. The Angels went back to Concord determined to end the streak on Sunday. The first team the Angels faced were the Yadkin Valley Bluejays. The Angels went to work on the Bluejays and pulled off a great win beating them 15-0. Winning Pitcher: Daniel Garrett
Game #2 on Sunday saw the Angels continuing to strive to win. The Angels weren't going to let anyone stand in their way. They came out strong and beat the North Wake Mustangs 6-2. Winning Pitcher: Jason(JJ)Smith

Morganton Gatorade Tournament - April 24-25
This weekend the Carolina Angels traveled to Morganton for the Gatorade Spring National Invitational Qualifier. The Angels faced the Carolina Gators on Saturday at 11am. The Gators were tough for the Angels. Neither team scored in the 1st inning. Each team posted 1 run in the 2nd inning. In the 3rd inning the Gators went up 1-3. In the 4th inning, the Angels added a run to make the score 2-3. In the 5th inning, the Gators added another run to make the score 3-4. Each team added 1 in the 6th to end the game 4-5, Gators win. The Angels faced the Americans at 4pm. The game started out slow with each team posting 1 run in the 1st. In the 2nd, the Americans added a run to lead the Angels 2-1. The Angels added 2 runs in the 3rd, to make the score 2-3. The Angels blew it away in the 4th, scoring 7 runs to the Americans 1 to make the score 3-10. The Americans posted 2 more runs in the 5th. The Angels came through again and posted 5 more runs to 10 run the Americans and win. Final score 5-15. Winning Pitchers: Daniel Garrett and Micah Wells.
On Sunday the Angels faced the Carolina Gators at 11am. The Gators went ahead in the 1st inning and lead 0-2. In the 2nd inning each team posted a run to make the score 1-3. It stayed that way in the 3rd, but in the 4th the Gators scored 3 more runs to lead the Angels 1-6. The Gators posted 4 more in the 5th inning to make the score 1-10. The Angels fought back in the 6th but fell short only scoring 2 runs to finish the game 3-10. The Angels faced the Americans at 1:30pm. Each team started out quick and scored 1 run. The score stayed until the 4th inning, when Chad Felton put one over the fence to score 2 runs. The Americans answered with a run, and the score was 3-4. The Angels scored 1 more in the 5th to tie the game 4 all. The Angels posted 2 more runs in the 6th inning, and the Americans posted 1 to end the game 6-5 Angels win. **Also in Morganton for the weekend, were the11U Carolina Angels. They beat the Spartanburg Thunderstixx 10-8 to win the 11U Championship!

Concord NIT Tournament April 30-May 2
This weekend, the Carolina Angels traveled to Concord for the NIT. The first game for the Angels was Friday, April 30th at 9pm. The Angels faced the always tough, Carolina Gators at Rocky River School. The Gators jumped on the boards early with a 4-0 lead. It stayed that way until the 6th inning. Each team added a run but it wasn't enough to put the Angels on top. Final score Gators 5, Angels 1. On Saturday at 3pm, the Angels faced the Central Cabarrus Jr. Vikings at W.W. Flowe Park. The Angels looked more confident jumping ahead in the first 1-0. The Angels posted two more in the 2nd, making the score 3-0. The Angels did it again in the 3rd. They posted 2 more runs and the score was 5-0. 1 more run was added in the 5th and 1 in the 6th to give the Angels the win! Final score 8-0. Winning Pitcher: Brandon Gray
Also on Saturday, the Angels faced the Carolina Outlaws at 7pm. What a tough team! The Angels and the Outlaws both posted 3 runs in the 1st inning. It was at a stand still until the 3rd inning when the Outlaws broke free and scored 4 runs making the score 3-7. The Angels wanted revenge in the 4th and posted 3 runs of their own to make the score 6-7 going into the bottom of the 4th. In the 5th inning, the Angels added two more runs to pass the Outlaws in scoring. The Outlaws were out of spark, and the Angels finished that game 8-7. Winning Pitcher: Kyle Humphrey
The Angels were back in action early Sunday morning facing the Carolina Copperheads Red. The Copperheads came out strong and scored 2 runs in the 1st compared to 1 run by the Angels. The Copperheads scored another in the 2nd inning and led the Angels 3-1. In the 3rd, the Copperheads added two more runs to the Angels 1. Score 5-2. Each team added 2 runs in the 4th inning to make the score 7-4.   The Copperheads added 2 more runs in the 6th inning to defeat the Angels 9-4.
The second game on Sunday saw the Angels facing the Central Cabarrus Jr. Vikings again. The Angels went ahead in the first, scoring 2 runs. Score 0-2. The Vikings fought back and scored 2 runs in the 2nd, while the Angels scored 4. Score 2-6. The Vikings scored 3 more in the 3rd inning while the Angels scored 3. Making the score 5-9 Angels. The score remained the same in the 4th inning. In the 5th inning, the Angels added another run to make the score 5-10. The Vikings still had heart and added a run to their score in the 6th inning to make the final score, 6-10. Winning Pitchers: Chad Felton and Jacob Watts
It's tough to lose only 1 game and finish 3rd in your pool. Sometimes your get the good breaks and sometimes you don't. We didn't get them this weekend. Remember guys, "Keep your heads held high and practice, practice, practice!" We're going to get it, it only takes time.


**How did the other Angels do this weekend? The 9U Carolina Angels finished 3rd for their age group. The 12U Carolina Angels finished the tournament in 1st Place! Nice tournament for the Angels.

Concord Tournament May 14-16
The Carolina Angels were in Concord this weekend for the 21st Annual Grand Slam Tournament. Play began 8:30pm Friday night with the Angels facing the Spartanburg Phillies. The Angels started the 1st inning off well, scoring 1 run while the Phillies scored none. In the 2nd inning the Angels scored again while the Phillies still remained scoreless. Everything stayed the same in the 3rd inning. In the 4th, the Phillies pulled out 2 runs to tie the Angels 2-2. The Angels scored 1 in the 5th inning and led the Phillies 2-3. The Phillies weren't giving up and scored 1 run in the top of the 6th to tie the game again 3-3. The Angels saw some good hitting and some interesting strategy by the Phillies, and put that 1 needed run on the board to win the game 3-4. Winning Pitcher: Kyle Humphrey
The second game of the tournament brought the GBC Falcons and the Angels together on Saturday eventing at 5pm. The Angels jumped out strong in the 1st inning scoring 3 runs on the Falcons. In the 2nd inning, the Angels added a run to make the score 0-4. In the 3rd inning the Falcons got on the board with a run. Score 1-4. The Angels posted 3 more in the 4th to make the score 1-7. Both teams let it ride in the 5th. Top of the 5th, the Falcons added 3 runs to the board to give them 4. In the bottom of the 5th the Angels answered back and added 8 runs of their own. That's where it stayed in the 6th and the Angels won 4-12. Winning Pitchers: Jason Smith and Brandon Gray
On Sunday, the Angels were back at McAllister field at 9am facing the South Wake Storm. The Angels started out quick and scored 1 run in the first, while the Storm scored none. In the 2nd, the score remained. In the 3rd, the Storm posted 2 runs while the Angels added 2 of their own to make the score 2-3. It remained at a stand still for the 4th inning. In the 5th, both teams got active. The Storm scored 4 and the Angels scored 3 to end the inning in a tie ballgame: 6-6. The score remained tied in the 6th and the two teams went into extra innings. In the 7th, the Storm jumped out in front and scored 3 runs. The Angels tried hard to come back but just couldn't get there, and suffered a hard lose. Final score 9-6.
At 1pm, the Angels came alive as they faced the Carolina Outlaws. The Angels scored 1 run in the 1st inning to make the score 0-1. The Angels added another in the 2nd to give them 0-2 lead. In the 3rd, neither team scored. In the 4th, the Outlaws put 1 on the board and the Angels added 3 to make the score 1-4. The 5th inning saw neither team able to score a run. In the 6th, the Outlaws threatened to go ahead of the Angels, but could only manage one run. The Angels won 2-4 and took 3rd Place in the 21st Annual Grand Slam Tournament! Winning Pitchers: Micah Wells and Daniel Garrett


**Also in Concord for the weekend were the 11U Carolina Angels. The Angels went undefeated in pool play to advance to the Championship. The Angels won both of their playoff games and took 1st place in the tournament. Congratulations Angels!!



USSSA Carolina Angels Invitational Tournament May 21-23
The Carolina Angels were in Kernersville this weekend at Beeson Park for the Carolina Angels USSSA National Invitational Tournament. On Friday night the Angels came prepared to meet the Yadkin Valley Blue Jays. Both teams scored 1 run in the 1st inning. Score 1-1. In the 2nd inning, The Angels added another run to make the score 1-2. In the 3rd, the Angels added 2 more runs to make the score 1-4. The Angels let loose in the 4th and scored 4 more runs to take the win, 1-9. Winning Pitcher: Chad Felton
The Angels were back at Beeson Park early Saturday morning to face the Summerfield Sidewinders. The Angels jumped in front early taking a 4-nothing lead in the 1st inning. In the 2nd inning, the Sidewinders scored 1 run and the Angels scored 1 to make the score 1-5. In the 3rd inning, the Sidewinders added another run and the Angels added 2 to put the score 2-7. The Angels were the only ones to add runs in the 4th making the score 2-8. The 5th inning kept the Sidewinders at 2. The Angels added 2 more runs and the game was ended with the Angels winning 2-10. Winning Pitchers: Daniel Garrett and Kyle Humphrey
The 2nd game of the day wasn't as nice. The Angels faced the Asheboro Vipers. Both teams were unable to score in the 1st inning. In the 2nd, The Vipers let loose and scored 7 runs while the Angels could only manage 1. Score: 7-1. In the 3rd, both teams scored nothing. In the 4th, The Angels were the only ones to post any runs and the score was 7-5. The Angels were able to add one more to their score in the 5th to make it 7-6. The Vipers wouldn't give up and placed 5 runs on the scoreboard in the top of the 6th. The Angels tried but couldn't come back and lost the game 12-7.
On Sunday, the rested Angels came out to play some ball. Lead off hitter, Garrett Motsinger hit the ball over the centerfielder's head and got an in the park HOMERUN! The Angels scored 4 runs in the 1st inning to make the score 0-4. It was more of the same in the 2nd inning. The Angels busted the ball and posted 8 more runs to make the score 0-12. The Angels drove in 2 more runs in the 3rd and the game was ended with Angels taking the win. Score 14-0. Winning Pitcher: Micah Wells and Jacob Watts
The Angels finished the tournament in 2nd Place with only one lose for the weekend.

The 13U Carolina Angels played up with the 14U group and played some great baseball.


Concord Summersports Games-June 4-6
Over the weekend, the Carolina Angels were in Concord for the Summersports Games. The first game for the Angels was Friday night at 9pm. We faced the Carolina Lightning. The Angels jumped out in front quick, scoring 1 in the first inning. Score: 1-0. The Lightning came back in the 2nd and scored 2 of their own to make the score 1-2. The Angels bounced back as well and put 2 more on the board to take back the lead 3-2. The score stayed the same through the 4th and 5th innings. The Angels were hot in the 6th, scoring 3 runs to the Lightnings 1, ending the game with a win for the Angels 6-3. Winning Pitchers: Kyle Humphrey and Jason Smith
The Angels 2nd game of the tournament was Saturday night at 7pm. The Americans came ready to play! Both teams jumped on the board in the 1st with 2 runs a piece. The Americans posted 1 in the 2nd to take the lead with a score of 3-2. Each team added 1 in the 3rd to make the score 4-3. That score stuck in the 4th. The Americans added 2 more in the 5th to make the score 6-3. In the 6th inning, Chad Felton put one over the centerfield fence with bases loaded. All the Angels contributed with their bats and had a successful inning posting 8 more runs to win the game 6-11. Winning Pitchers: Brandon Gray, Jason Smith, and Daniel Garrett.
On Sunday, the Angels were back in action at 3pm for the Championship round. The Angles took on the GBC Falcons. The Falcons took the lead early scoring 3 runs in the first. The Angels held them in the 2nd. In the 3rd, the Angels scored 1 when Chad Felton hit one over the fence for his 2nd Homerun of the weekend. Both teams held that score in the 4th. In the 5th, the Falcons let loose scoring 4 runs to make the score 7-1. The Falcons added 1 more in the 6th and took the win from the Angels 8-1. The Angels did well and finished the tournament in 2nd Place.


**The 11U Carolina Angels were also in Concord for the weekend. They took 1st Place in their division. Congratulations Angels!


Morganton - West Regionals June 11-13
The Carolina Angels were in Morganton this weekend for the Western State Championships.
Game #1 (Friday, June 11th - 8:30pm)
The Angels faced the tough Americans team. Both teams were scoreless in the 1st inning. The Americans scored 4 in the 2nd, while the Angels scored 0. The score remained 0-4 in the 3rd. In the 4th inning, the Angels put 2 on the scoreboard when Jason Smith put the ball over the left-center fence. The other Angels also contributed and put 1 other run on the board. The Americans increased their score by 2. Score 3-6. In the 5th inning the Angels tried to chip away at the lead and put 1 more run in the books. But the Americans wouldn't back down and they also added runs to their score. 4-8 Americans. That's where the 6th ended giving the Angels a disappointing lose.
Game #2 (Saturday, June 12th - 1pm)
The Angels looked strong against the Lake Norman Dodgers. In the 1st inning, Kyle Humphrey put the ball over the leftfield fence to put 3 runs on the board. The other Angels also did well and we had 7 runs on the scoreboard at the end of the 1st inning. The Dodgers scored none. In the 2nd inning, the Angels could only score a run and the inning ended 8-0. In the 3rd inning, the Angels decided to whack those bats. (Everybody hit, everybody score!) Chad Felton sent one over the centerfield fence scoring 2 runs to end the game. Final score Angels 16, Dodgers 1. Winning Pitcher: Daniel Garrett
Game #3 (Sunday, June 13th - 9am)
What a tough team: The Carolina Outlaws! The Angels jumped ahead in the 1st inning, scoring 1 run to make the score 0-1. Nothing changed in the 2nd. In the 3rd, the Outlaws came back and tied us, 1-1. In the 4th, the Angels added 1 more to make the score 1-2. The Outlaws answered with runs of their own in the 5th, and passed the Angels by 1 to make the score 3-2. The Outlaws added another in the 6th, but the Angels couldn't add any of their own and lost the game 4-2.
Game #4 (Sunday, June 13th - 1pm)
The afternoon game saw the Angels and Carolina Gators together for the 4th time. In the 1st inning, the Angels put 2 runs up, while the Gators scored 0. In the 2nd inning, The Gators added a run to make it 1-2. Both teams added 1 run each in the 3rd, to make the score 2-3. In the 4th, the Angels got bat-happy and added 3 more runs. Score 2-6. The score ramained 2-6 in the 5th. The Gators threw the Angels a scare when they scored more runs in the 6th. But thankfully they fell short and the Angels finished in 3rd Place for the Western Regionals. This was the 1st time the Angels defeated the Gators. Final score: 5-6. Winning Pitchers: Kyle Humphrey, Micah Wells, and Brandon Gray


**Also in Morganton this weekend were the Carolina Angels 9U, 11U, and 12U. The 9U finished 2nd in their age division. The 11U finished 2nd in their pool and will advance to the State Championships in Concord. The 12U won their pool and will also advance to the State Championships.


USSSA State Championships
The Carolina Angels were in Kernersville this weekend for the USSSA State Championships.
Game #1 (Friday, June 18th-10am) The first game of the tournament saw the Carolina Angels facing the Carolina Marlins. The Angels started strong scoring 2 in the 1st inning while the Marlins scored 0. In the 2nd inning, the Marlins got 1 while the Angels scored 0. Score: 2-1. The scored remained 2-1 in the 3rd. In the 4th, the Angels scored 6 after batting around in the line-up. In the 5th, the Angels put 2 more runs on the board and the Marlins weren't able to score. The Angels took the win 10-1. Winning Pitcher: Brandon Gray
Game #2 (Saturday, June 19th-9:45am) The Angels played the Carolina Tarheels on Sat. The Tarheels took a quick lead on the Angels, scoring 8 with their first at bat. The Angels could only put 2 on the board. In the 2nd inning, things got worse, as the Tarheels put 5 more on the board. The Angels answered with 7 runs of their own. Score: 13-9. The Tarheels put 2 more up in the 3rd inning. The Angels beat on the ball and scored 6 runs to tie the score 15-15. The Tarheels got a nice hit scoring 2 additional runs in the 4th. Game #3 (Sunday, June 20-11:30am) Sunday's game was between the Carolina Angels and the Piedmont Panthers. In the 1st inning, the Panthers took a quick lead, scoring 4. The Angels fought back and scored 2. In the 2nd, The Panthers couldn't score, while the Angels got 1 making the score 4-3. In the 3rd, neither team scored a run. In the 4th, the Panthers weren't able to cross the plate, while the Angels scored 2 and pulled ahead of them. Score:4-5. In the 5th, the Panthers scored 2 to take the lead away from the Angels. In the 6th, the Panthers scored 2. The Angels tried hard, but couldn't catch up, and lost this one 8-7.

AAU State Championships-June 26-27
After several rain delays, the Carolina Angels began play Saturday in Concord, NC competing in the State Championships.
Game #1 (Saturday, June 26th - 2pm)
The first game for the Angels was against the always challenging GBC Falcons. The Angels came out strong in the 1st inning, scoring 5 runs. In the top of the 2nd, the Falcons scored 2 runs while the Angels managed to get 2 more of their own on the board. The Falcons added 1 in the 3rd while the Angels scored 0. Score 3-7. That score remained in the 4th inning as well. In the 5th, the Falcons came up short scoring none while the Angels scored 1. Time ran out and the Angels took the win. Winning Pitchers: Kyle Humphrey and Brandon Gray.
Game #2 (Saturday, June 26th - 7pm)
The Angels faced a new team, The Heat in Game #2 of the tournament. The Heat proved to be tough from the beginning. Both teams remained scoreless after the 1st and 2nd innings. In the 3rd, the Angels put 3 runs in the books, while The Heat scored 0. In the 4th, The Heat scored 1 while the Angels stayed at 3. A lot of action, but no runs for either team during the 5th and 6th innings, left the Angels with their 2nd win of the day. Winning Pitcher: Jason Smith
Game #3 (Sunday, June 27th - 9am)
Talk about your tough teams, and the Outlaws are in there. That's exactly what the Angels were thinking. But fear played into no players minds in this game. At the end of the 1st inning, the scored remained 0-0. In the bottom of the 2nd inning, the Angels put 1 run on the board. That scored remained throughout the 3rd and 4th innings. In the top of the 5th inning, the Outlaws scored a run to tie the game. The Angels scored none in the bottom. Tension mounted in the top of the 6th when the Outlaws took the lead by one. The Angels had their work cut out for them in the bottom of the 6th, trying to overcome a 1 run deficit. Brandon Gray hit into a fielders choice, but the throw to home wasn't in time and the Angels tied the game with Chad Felton's slide into home. Gray stole 2nd and went for home on a Kyle Humphrey hit to centerfield. The Outlaws threw home, but Gray slid in for the go ahead run and the exciting Angel's win. The fans and coaches went wild. Game #4 (Sunday, June 27th - 1pm)
This afternoon game saw the Carolina Angels take on the Carolina Lightning. The Lightning jumped ahead in the bottom of the 1st, with 1 run. The Angels scored 0 in the 2nd, as did the Lightning. Score 0-1. In the 3rd, the Lightning added 1 to the board, for a 2 run lead. In the 4th, the Angels fell apart allowing 6 more runs to cross the plate. The 5th saw more of the same, as the Lightning added an additional 3 runs to end the game. A tough lose for the Angels. Final score 0-11.
Game #5 (Sunday, June 27th - 3pm)
No matter the outcome, the fans are proud of how far the Angels have come. The Angels found themselves taking on the South Wake Storm. Both teams scored quick in the 1st, putting one run each on the board. In the 2nd, Micah Wells broke his finger on what was to be a bunt. The Angel team buckled down and decided to win this game for Micah! The Angels added 2 runs to pull ahead. Score:1-3. In the top of the 3rd, the Storm added 1 run. The Angels busted those bats in the bottom of the 3rd. The team batted around and scored 11 runs. The 4th inning held the score 2-14, and the Angels took the win. Winning Pitchers: Micah Wells and Daniel Garrett.

The Angels would like to congratulate the Carolina Lightning on their 1st Place State Championship finish. We would also like to congratulate the Americans team on their 2nd Place finish. You are 2 tough teams. We look forward to seeing you at Nationals!

**The 9U, 11U, and 12U did a great job in states as well. The 9U took 2nd place in the Challenge bracket. The 11U WON the State Championship title for their age group with just 1 lose. The 12U took 2nd Place overall in their age bracket.


2004 AAU National Championships
The 2004 National Championships were held for 10U 65', Division I and II teams, on July 18-24 in Concord, North Carolina. Click on the above heading to see the schedules and final results.

At the end of pool play, the Angels with a 3-2 record finished 2nd in their pool and advanced to the "Sweet 16"! The first game in this bracket makes or breaks a team. The only way to advance is to win. Lose, and you go home.
