First step on the Road to Williamsport and the Little League World Series

Welcome to California District 38, where everyone makes a team and everyone plays. We offer Baseball, Softball and Challenger Programs for children ages 4  to 18. No one cares more about your child than we do. If your childs dream is to play in the Little League World Series then they must play Little League Baseball. There are other programs but most end at the completion of the regular season. District 38 competed in 33 post season tournaments this year, with most of our players competing in at least one of them. The road to Williamsport is a long one that starts at the League and District level and advances to Section, Division, Region and then to Williamsport. Good Luck and have a safe, fun and rewarding season.

LAKEWOOD LITTLE LEAGUE RECEIVES CHALLENGER GRANT

Little League Baseball awarded Lakewood Little League a $1000 grant to help offset the cost of the Challenger Program the league started this year. Challenger our program for Special Needs players has just celebrated its 25th year in our district. Plaza Little League was issued the first charter in California by Little League Baseball in 1990. We also have two other leagues West Long Beach and Long Beach that are looking to start Challenger in their areas too. I want to congratulate Jim Auman for doing such a good job as our District Challenger ADA, & Glenn Haas for getting the grant for Lakewood Little League. If you know anyone with a special needs child please tell them about our program. They can contact Jim @ jkabaseball66@aol.com for the program closest to them or answer any questions.

165 Mangers & Coaches Attend 2014 Safety Clinic

Thanks to all of you that took the time to put our players first. With Safety First in our District it is great to see this kind of turn out. This coupled with the 345 from last year and the 348 from the year before puts 858 of our volunteers trained and ready to protect our players. You not only make it safer for our players but help keep the insurance costs down for your League and District.  Last clinic had another 156 attendees, this brings us to over 1000 trained volunteers within our District!

A GREAT BIG THANK-YOU TO ALL

District 38 has made Safety First. For the Twelfth year in a row 100% of our Leagues have made a Safety Plan and they have all been approved by Willamsport. A big Thank-you to all of you that worked so hard, your efforts have earned a 20% discount on your leagues insurance and a $350 discount on the district insurance as well. Now lets not let down, make sure the plans are implemented. Remember Little League means Safety - Fun - Sportsmanship.

DISTRICT 38 IS 100% FOR 2014 - ALL LEAGUE SAFETY PLANS ARE APPROVED - THANKS FOR THE GREAT JOB.

Safety Class Certification

Safety class certifications are good for three years, i.e if you attended class in 2013, 2014 your certification is valid for 2015. If your certificate is from a year prior to 2013 then it is no longer valid. Rosters of the Saftey Classes conducted by District 38 in 2013 and 2014 can be viewed by clicking the headline of this article.

Where the 'elite' kids shouldn't meet

Travel teams, “elite” leagues, “select” players … they skewer our sports perspective

Your kid is good, right? Really good? You don’t want to brag, but he can do some things on the field that other kids his age won’t even try. You played a little ball yourself, and you know the difference…. Read entire story here
