(CYLLA) California Youth Lacrosse Los Angeles: League Rules

Referee

1. Games consist of 2 – 25 minute halves - running time.

2. Each team is allowed 1 – 30 second time out per half.

3. Half time will be 3 minutes.

4. Bench Penalties will be 3 minutes for (both boys and girls) unsportsmanlike conduct. (both boys and girls)

5. Body check is permitted with a maximum of 2 steps prior to the point of contact.(boys only)

6. Girls Division 1 will play with Modified Checking. Girls Division 2 will play with Modified checking half way through the season starting on Game 5.

7. All rules are subject to the referee’s discretion.

8. Teams MUST play with a goalie - or the team forfeits. Goalie equipment will be provided by the league if needed.

9. A team must have a minimum of 8 field players and a goalie for a game to be legitimate. If a team does not have enough players, the contest will be considered a forfeit.

10. No parents are allowed on the team bench side of the field. A bench penalty will be issued if in violation.

11. Any player dismissed from a game due to violent or unsportsmanlike conduct they will not be allowed to play for the remainder of that game nor the following. 

12. Players will receive equal playing time in games to the best of the coaches ability.

5 GOAL RULE - To prevent teams from running up the score and to encourage player development

13. If a 5 goal margin exists no face off will occur.  The team down by 5 goals will receive the ball at midfield.

14. If a team is up by 5 goals once that team is in their offensive restraining box they must remain in the box (or below the restraining line if no offensive restraining box is painted on the field).  If they leave the box the team down by 5 goals gets possession of the ball at midfield.
