California Sixman Football Association: Welcome
Welcome to the online home of the California Sixman Football Association. The CSFA hopes to play its first game in 2008. The CSFA is an organization setup to offer full-contact, recreational football at the adult level. The CSFA's goal is to allow players to compete in a local, organized and competitive league and enjoy the game of football past the high school and/or collegiate level. The league is comprised of a variety of talent levels ranging from players that have played professionally to players that have never played football before joining the CSFA. Sixman, unlike traditional 11-man, can be played with 10-15 players on each team. An entire league can be created with the same number of people it takes to field only two 11-man teams. The CSFA is not a semi-pro organization and was established for one reason, fun!
Of course with a different style of play come different rules. In Sixman everyone is eligible to catch a pass and the offensive and defensive formations vary depending on the size and speed of your players. This makes things extremely fast paced on the field. The game of Sixman is a wide open; fast paced contest and often leads to big scores. Another difference in the Sixman game is scoring. A touchdown is still a touchdown but field goals are worth four points and a kicked extra point is worth two. Running or throwing the ball in for an extra point is worth one. The field is smaller at 80 x 40(instead of 100 x 50) with the 40 yard line being mid-field line. Offenses need to move the ball 15 yards to get a first down and the ball can only be advanced past the line of scrimmage after it touched by two players in the back field or passed forward. Not familiar with the sport Sixman football? Not many people are. Sixman was created in Nebraska in 1933 during the depression by Steven Epler and has been around ever since. It is still played by small high schools throughout Texas and the Midwest. Every season the teams in the CSFA will compete for the Chester Cup Trophy, named after the school where sixman football was founded. Come out and see our teams battle for it.
The California Sixman Football Association (CSFA) is looking for interested players to help start this upstart league in the Monterey Bay area. We would like to get together at least 4 teams for a mini-season. To due this at least 50-60 players are needed. Looking for interested persons to help run the league, run a team, just play, and even officials. I personally have 5 years of Sixman experience and am the Vice-President to our sister league the Texas Sixman Football Association. For more info on the CSFA or to show interest email me at tsfastuff@gmail.com or call (831)383-9461. Also for more info on the TSFA go to www.6manfootball.net.
