The Chugiak Cyclones are a U-15 girls competitive soccer team. Players on the team come from Eagle River, Chugiak and Anchorage. The team had a great summer, started off in great style by their winning the Ina-K championship, which was the first ever tournament win for the team. The team traveled to the Midnight Sun tournament in June, won all their games and another championship. They had a great time at the tournament, and held a spaghetti dinner for the girl’s team from Whitehorse that they played in the first round. Around 36 girls plus a bunch of parents made quite a commotion! In July 2007, the team traveled to Whidbey Island, Washington for a week at the Northwest Soccer Camp. The camp is run by Seattle Pacific University and has great coaches. The weather was hot and sunny and all the girls had a great time and learned a lot. The team won most of their games in the summer league, placing second overall. They played in the State Cup 2007 in Kenai, playing well and coming in third overall. It was a very busy summer for the team! They had a lot of successes to build upon for the coming year. The Cyclones coach is Sam Beverlin, and their assistant coach is Hannah Brehmer.
