Try-out for Fall 2013 Information

The CSC Phoenix are seeking several players to add to the fall roster.

The Phoenix are a rising U15 girls' team professionally trained and coached by Ged Wood, who holds a UEFA B license and has coached in the British Football Association.  Ged is assisted by Coach Dan Turner, who currently holds a VYSA "E" Certificate and has been coaching youth soccer since 1998.

Our goal for the coming year is to have our girls compete for a spot on their high school teams.  With that goal in mind, the team plays and practices year-round with an understanding that players may also participate in other activities such as  Field Hockey, Basketball, Drama, Band, etc.  Despite representing 5 different high schools next year, the girls are close and welcoming to new players.

Our team's long-term principle is to help the girls increase their confidence and respect for the game, themselves and others.  We strive to imbue the girls with the desire to give their best at all times in everything they do, not just in soccer.  Put simply, we want help the girls become "better people through soccer".

As a coaching staff, we believe the game is the best teacher.  We keep the roster smaller than many other teams to maximize playing time on the field and to increase individual, focused instruction during practices.  We take a serious approach to the game, but also manage to have fun, both in games and at practices.  While our desire to win is high, our overarching goal is to teach the girls to play "the beautiful game" well.

We participate in several tournaments a year and practice on both turf and well-maintained grass fields.  We hold some practices indoors to reduce the chance that practices will be canceled due to weather, and we offer optional conditioning practices during the summer and the winter.
