CPHS Boosters Golf Classic:
The College Park Boosters are having their annual golf tournament to raise money. Tournaments like this are played in a "scramble" format, which just means that golfers of any ability can participate and compete on a fairly equal footing. Teams are usually made up of A, B, C, & D level players where the A player is usually the most experienced, the B player less so, etc. This format is a good way for anybody to have fun regardless of their golfing ability.
If there are any parents who would like to form a "CP Aquatics" team let me know. I'm looking for 3 other players (no experience necessary) to round out my team.
If you're interested, please drop me a line.
Regards, Mark Choiniere

- Meet Highlites:
- Rachel O'Brien gets NCS qualifying times in the 200 IM and 100 Back
- Hannah Curran's 100 Breaststroke was an NCS consideration time.
- Varsity Girl's 200 MR was an NCS automatic qualifying time
- Varsity Boy's 200 MR was an NCS consideration time.
- Varsity Girl's and Varsity Boy's 200 Free relays were NCS consideration times.
- Several swimmers had season best times (when compared to Time Trials).
- Note from Coach Carol:
- There were some excellent swims last night. I would particularly like to highlight Rachel O'Briens' swims in the 200 IM and 100 Back which were NCS automatic qualifying times and Hannah Curran's 100 Breaststroke which was an NCS consideration time. Also the Varsity Girl's 200 Med. relay was an NCS automatic qualifying time, while the Boy's 200 Med. Relay, and both the Varsity Girl's and Varsity Boy's 200 Free relays were NCS consideration times. Several swimmers had season best times (when compared to Time Trials).
- I thought everyone did very well at the meet last night especially considering the format and seeding problem Acalanes was having with their Hytek system. In case some of you weren't aware of what was going on, someone seeded the meet like a USS weekend timed finals invitational meet, not as a dual meet. We were supposed to have Lanes 1,3,5,7, for all heats and the swimmers should have been seeded (by coaches placement - which we submitted) into lanes which would have put them next to similar swimmers from the other team. You might have noticed that sometimes it was so bad, we had a heat with only College Park swimmers, who were scored against swimmers in an entirely different heat. Anyway, our swimmers did great. * It should be noted I'm not in love with Hytek when it comes to dual meets.
- I was sorry to hear about this mornings confusion. We will be discussing this tonight at practice. I feel there was a lot of mis-communication. Please come to listen and also to comment. I do want to make this clear, we will always have practice on Tuesday AND Thursday mornings.
- I have been telling other coaches (friends of mine) just how much I am enjoying coaching this group of swimmers this year. We have a very difficult evening schedule, and most of you have been very diligent in making your practices. I'm especially impressed with the swimmers who are trying to make ALL their practices, but I understand that conflicts sometimes come up.
- Again, I want to commend the swimmers on an excellent season so far this year. Let's keep up our focus and see where it can take us.
Carol
