Masters Swimming Information

About
The Central Maryland YMCA Masters Swim Team (CMYM) promotes lifelong fitness through competitive and recreational swimming. The certified coaching staff lead challenging workouts that utilize current methodology and techniques of the sport. CMYM is a member of the Local Masters Swim Committee (LMSC) and provides competitive opportunities via meets sanctioned by United States Masters Swimming (USMS) and the YMCA. In addition, our masters swimming program is great for triathletes and recreational swimmers who want to increase their endurance and speed.
 
Team Goals
  • To increase the size of our team through the training and development of new swimmers as well as the recruitment of former swimmers.
  • To increase our turnout at every sponsored meet or event.
  • To increase the training opportunities available to the CMYM team.
  • To keep the CMYM swimmers abreast of current swimming news and information.

    Individuals Goals
  • Come ready to practice.
  • Practice hard.
  • Try new stuff (stroke/techniques).
  • Have fun!!!!

    Requirements
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Have the right gear (suit, goggles, cap, a water proof watch if you cannot see the pace clock).
  • Able to swim 200 yards without stopping.
  • Able to swim 1000 yards within one hour.
