Commerce Little League: Safety Info
2009 Commerce Little League Safety Reminders and Information
• All Batting Helmets must have a chin strap and all catcher helmets must have a dangling throat protector.
• Tee Ball and Pee Wee East will be using Reduced Injury Factor (RIF) baseballs this season. These balls are designed to reduce potential injuries for our least experienced players.
• To increase the overall safety of our players, parents, and families, in the event of a cardiac emergency, an AED has been ordered and will be placed in the umpire shed when it is received. All managers have access to the umpire shed as they were given the lock code earlier this season.
• CPR barrier face masks are now included in all team first aid kits.
• We need your help to make sure that no one climbs fences or climbs trees at the fields.
• Speed limit at Maple Glen Park is 5 MPH CLLB weather delay policies are as follows:
• In the event that lightning is seen, thunder is heard, or tornado sirens are heard all players should immediately evacuate the fields.
• An air horn will be maintained in the umpire’s shed. If the umpire in charge sees lightning, hears thunder, or if an immediate emergency should arise that would require evacuation, the horn will sound.
• Weather safety is a team effort…Managers should not wait until the horn is sounded to evacuate if lightning is seen or thunder is heard.
• When in doubt, the manager should always direct players and families towards the side of caution, until weather or other situations are evaluated or assessed.
• NOTE: Dugouts, concession stand, umpire shed, and equipment sheds are not acceptable shelters in the event of thunder or lightning. Shelter should be taken in vehicles.
• Managers will be responsible for a player, until that child’s parent or guardian arrives.
• No one is allowed to return to the field until 20 minutes following the last visible lightning or audible thunder.
• When the tornado siren goes off, except for normal 1st Saturday of every month at 1pm test, games at that time slot are immediately cancelled. There can be no games played while there is a national weather service tornado warning in effect for Oakland County.
