Calvert Lacrosse Club is dedicated to the instruction and development of boys lacrosse in Southern Maryland and beyond! The Club was founded in 1986 by Lenny Casalino and nine boys from Northern High School who were eager to learn the sport of lacrosse and eager to establish a team for the first time in Calvert County. Despite the popularity of lacrosse in neighboring Anne Arundel County and Baltimore, many reidents in Calvert County had not been exposed to the sport of lacrosse at that time. Since those early days, the Club has experienced rapid and significant growth and was the driving force in establishing lacrosse as a varsity program in the Calvert County Public Schools in 2000. Because of the determination of those first nine players and the passionate players who followed them, lacrosse has saturated Calvert County and the Southern Maryland area. Our local high schools now field varsity and junior varsity programs and are competitive with lacrosse programs with much more extensive roots. There are youth organizations with all age groups throughout the area, and more and more start up each year.
About Calvert Lacrosse Club!
Calvert Lacrosse Club enrolls players in five divisions: U15 (Juniors), U13 (Midgets), U11 (PeeWees), U9 (Bantams), and U7 (Scoopers). Due to the significant growth of our organization over the years and the wide geographic draw, Calvert Lacrosse Club divided into two separate programs: Calvert Lacrosse Club (North) and Calvert Lacrosse Club (South). Calvert Lacrosse Club (South) or Calvert South has since merged with Solomons Steelers. Both organizations are members of the SMYLA Lacrosse League, a youth lacrosse league with teams from Calvert, Frederick, Montgomery, Prince George’s, and St. Mary's Counties.
Calvert Lacrosse Club has a strong foundation of 'Tradition and Family' as evidenced by its yearly Alumni Day reunion and games, its annual Family Day, and by the number of alumni who return to the program each year as coaches and parents. Our directors, coaches, parents, and alumni are extremely proud of our program, its history, and the families and players who take part in learning and growing this incredible sport. We believe that our players deserve to be taught by the best coaches and instructors available – coaches who not only know the game of lacrosse, but also understand how to interact with children. We feel it is our responsibility not only to teach our players to be better athletes, but also to teach them to be better teammates, better opponents, and better citizens.
There is a resounding pride when you hear us cheer "Let's Go, Blue!"
