Welcome to the internet home of the Center High School Tennis Team!
**** ALERT ALERT ALERT!!!
With the success of our team last year we have started with a great turnout for this year's team, with over 40 boys/girls coming to tryouts! With numbers like these our program will continue to grow, both in size and quality.
We had our first pre-season match against Mesa Verde, with Center winning 8 - 1!
Center had a great first week of league matches, beating one of the best teams in the league (Dixon) 5 - 4 at Center! Center followed that win with another solid performance, beating Sac Country Day 6-3! #1 girls singles player, Shavonne Charity and #1 boys singles player, Arik Cheng won their matches in straight sets upsetting top ranked CVC All League players. Our girls and boys doubles team dominated SCD winning all of their matches with the exception of our mixed doubles team. To view all match results see match results link below.
4/1 - The CHS Tennis team proved to be nobody's fool, defeating Rio Linda at Rio 7 - 2! Shavonne continued her undefeated season, knocking off another top singles player in straight sets. Both Arik and Jordan pulled out victories in hard fought 3 set matches, with Jordan adding strength in the #2 singles spot that will make CHS so much stronger. Also, JR and Jenna played in their first league match, playing very well together and pulling off a convincing 10-4 win!
4/3 - It was close, but we lost our first league match.
Center 4, West Campus 5.
Our #1 girls singles player, Shavonne Charity remains unbeaten in league match play. We honored "Every 15 Minutes" (Arik Cheng - MIA). We had to adjust our boys line-up at the last moment to fill the void. Jordan Weeks and Spencer Cripe played outstanding singles matches, but came up a little short. Both matches went to 3 sets.
Our #1 girls and boys doubles team won their matches. We lost our #2 girls and #2 boys doubles and our mixed doubles team matches.
Notable mention: #2 Girls Singles player, Angie Kapitula (frosh) won her first CVC League singles match in a long and tough 3 sets tie-breaker (3-6, 6-4, 7-6(7-4)). A well deserved win for Angie!

4/8 - Center lost (1 – 8) against River City High School. Our #1 girls singles player, Shavonne Charity played an outstanding match against the best CVC girls singles player in the league. Shavonne took her to 3 sets, losing the final set (4-6). Our mixed doubles team (Gem Antonio /Kyle Casagrande), played well to post our only match win for our team. Although we lost, the team played with high intensity, effort, heart and a desire to win. River City had more than enough exhibition players to play all of our players
