From the Desk of the Head Coach, Ginger Flohaug
Welcome New and Returning Players!

If you would like to volunteer to do any of the following, please email me so I can get you in touch with the appropriate person:
  • Help drive C squad girls to their away games – they will usually depart at 3:15 or 3:30pm from Centennial – contact Coach Mary Haskins at: intagliomary@yahoo.com
  • Drive and provide a trailer for the Homecoming parade – contact Ginger @ gflohaug@isd12.org
  • Have any siblings or younger soccer teams that would be interested in being ball girls at the Varsity home games (get in free and receive a drink/candy bar at halftime) – contact bafroehlich@comcast.net
  • Take pictures at the Parent Night for each level – contact the head coach of your team
A reminder - Cookie Dough fundraising will be turned in Thursday at 3:15pm next to the Tennis Courts. All money should be collected at the time you take the order.

Also, $120 is asked from every soccer player to fundraise this year to help pay for the YMCA trip, top 22 trip, new equipment, and new rain suits for every player, and the C squad program.

Thank you for everything that you do to support our program!

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email me at GFlohaug@ISD12.org and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

CHS Girls Soccer Program Fundraising
ALL players are expected to contribute $120
to the CHS Girls Soccer Program Booster Club, in order to pay the expenses for all four teams (Varsity, Junior Varsity, B-Squad and C-Squad) throughout the 2009 High School Soccer Season.  A number of fundraising events have already been held (Cub Store Grocery Bagging, Car Wash, Game Day Program Ad Sales) and others are underway and are described below, in order for the players to raise their Booster Club contribution through fundraising efforts.  Parents are encouraged to support their daughters in fundraising efforts, in order to avoid having to pay the $120 out of pocket.

CHS Girls Soccer Program Book Ads
Program Book Ad Sales are credited towards your fundraising goal of $120!

The 2009 Girls Soccer Program Book is now complete - look for the ads you sold.  All ad purchasers have been added to this website as a Sponsor, and can be found at the "Sponsor" tab.  Share a copy of the program book with those you sold ads to, show them the ad and let them know they are also on our website, and encourage them to purchase an ad again next year.  Anyone wishing to purchase an ad in the 2010 CHS Girls Soccer Program Book should contact us at CHS Girls Soccer.  THANK YOU, to all our Sponsors!

Fundraising Blitz
Was Held on Wedneday, August 26th
All players met at Centennial High School immediately after practice and launched the team's First Ever Fundraising Blitz!  From 4:00-6:00pm, players went out into the community in small groups to sell Otis Spunkmeyer Cookie Dough (same cookies as sold at Subway Sandwich Shops!).  After the two hours, all players met at Chominix Golf Course for the all teams pasta feed.

Players competed for prizes for highest dollar sales in the two-hour Blitz. The selling team of Kelsey Ogren/Taylor Dame, both on JV, was the team with the most sales, selling 47 containers of cookie dough during the two-hour Blitz!  Champions Choice, the Otis Spunkmeyer vendor, has multiple incentive programs. Players can still win money or a free sweatshirt for being a top seller! Sales after the Blitz are due and must be turned-in by September 3rd.

Dunn Brothers Coffee Shop Fundraiser
Community Giving Roastmaster Rewards Card
The CHS Girls and Boys Soccer Team programs have registered to participate in the Dunn Brothers Coffee Shops Roastmaster Rewards.  Dunn Brothers will make a donation to the CHS Girls and Boys Soccer Teams equal to 10% of the net bean and beverage sales proceeds each time the card is presented. If you already buy an occasional smoothie or coffee from Dunn Brothers, you can support the CHS Girls and Boys Soccer Team programs by participating. The cards are good at any Dunn Brothers Coffee Shop location.  Note that the continuation of the Roastmaster Rewards Program is determined by the usage of the cards; the more usage we get, the longer the CHS Girls and Boys Soccer Team programs benefit.  More details are contained in the Handout below.  Send questions to the CHS Girls Boosters at CHS Girls Soccer.

Umbrella Fundraiser
It's time to prepare for those seasonal showers!
The selling features of the Centennial logoed umbrellas are:
*Less than 1% metal (safer than other umbrellas in thunderstorms)
*Fiberglass shaft
*Large canopy covering
*Personalized Handle
*Centennial Logo (current logo, not the new, upcoming logo)
The team is selling Centennial Flaming C umbrellas for $25 each, and each player will make $8 of fundraising funds for each one sold. Since there's an advantage in showing the actual umbrella, we recommend that players bring one along if attempting to sell them door to door. For those players interested in having a sample umbrella to use for demonstration, one can be made available for $25. Once a player is done sell, the umbrella can be returned and receive the $25 refund, or you may keep the umbrella.  Now's the time to start fundraising!! Questions can be emailed to
CHS Girls Soccer. Submit your orders and checks to CHS Girls Soccer Boosters.

Wednesday, May 20
Fall 2009 Planning Meeting held on Wednesday, May 20th, in Coach Flohaug's Classroom (W606)
Dear Soccer Players and Parents,
I am excited about our next season and as coaches strongly encourage you, players, to continue to improve your skills over the summer with camps, and if possible, participate in a weight training program (F.I.T. is offered for females only all summer through Centennial Community Education). We expect very tough competition at ALL levels and in order to continue our success from our past season, we will need to make a strong commitment to maintaining and improving our physical fitness as well as soccer skills.

Important dates to remember:
June 3rd - Middle School Interest Meeting – 7th and 8th graders 7:45am @ CMS (H.S. Captains must also attend)
June 16th - Females In Training (FIT) Summer Strength Program starts for female athletes in Grades 7-12 - register through Community Ed
June 22nd – 26th - Little Cougar Soccer Camp (Volunteer Hours) @ Rice Lake Elementary School
July 27 – 30th - High School Soccer Camp @ Rice Lake Elem (9:00am – 11:30am)
August 10th - 14th – Captains Practice at Rice Lake Elemenatary (10:00am - 12:00pm)
August 15th – Car Wash at Spirit Hills (sign up during Captains Practice)
August 22nd – Top 20 Camping Trip at Lake Elmo Park Reserve
August 26th – All 4 teams Fundraising Event and Dinner 4:00pm - ?

Try-outs are open for girls entering Grades 8 – 12 at Centennial High School. Try-outs will begin on Monday, August 17th. Session I goes from 8:00am – 10:00am, Session II goes from 11:30am – 1:30pm. These sessions are held behind the high school arena – just outside of the soccer stadium. Try-outs will be held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, with two sessions each day as described above. Attending both tryout sessions each day is mandatory to be looked at for any of the 4 teams. Varsity, Junior Varsity, B-Squad and C-Squad are the four teams available at Centennial High School. The fitness tests during try-outs are as follows: Women’s National Test (4 times), BEEP Test (level 10), and Mile run under 7 minutes.

Before the girls are allowed to try-out they MUST fill out the Minnesota High School League forms. These can be picked up from the Centennial Middle School or Centennial High School Cashiers Offices. A new physical is needed every 3 years. You are not allowed to try-out without theses forms turned in to the Centennial High School Cashiers Office and pay the fee. The cashier will give you a small slip of paper that you will give to me on the first day of try-outs and that shows me that you are cleared to play.

The cost for participating in soccer for the 2009 season is $215. Along with this cost, we are asking each participant to raise $120 to be paid to the Booster Club to go towards paying for new equipment, uniform updates, team outings, awards at the team banquet, and the cost of funding the C-Squad team. A few fundraising plans that the team already has are as follows: selling business advertisements for the game program book, a car wash, selling Tastefully Simple products, cookie dough, and cookbooks. The top 2 girls that raise the most money will get reimbursed for the team sweatshirt that they order. You may choose to write a check out to the Centennial Girls Soccer Booster Club for $120 if you wish not to be a part of any of these fundraising events.

I look forward to seeing all of you out playing this summer!
Check out the Centennial Girls Website for further details throughout the year http://www.eteamz.com/CHSGirlsSoccer
