REGISTRATION Q & A
| 1-A | Question: | What does CGSA stand for? |
| Answer: | Corona Girls Softball Association. We are a non-profit organization, We’ve been a league since 1962 and we are an Amateur Softball Association (ASA) league. | |
| 1-B | Question: | Does CGSA offer player and coaching instruction? |
| Answer: | Yes! We offer a number of clinics for both players and managers/coaches. | |
| 1-C | Question: | My daughter has never played softball before. Does CGSA have a program for her? |
| Answer: | Yes, CGSA offers spring and winter recreational seasons that are open to all girls, regardless of experience. It is designed to be challenging, instructional, and fun! | |
| 1-D | Question: | Can I pick the team that my daughter will be placed on? |
| Answer: | No, we cannot honor any specific team requests. Exceptions will be made for T-ball, but there will be no guarantee that your request can be honored. | |
| 1-E | Question: | Can my two daughters be on the same team? |
| Answer: | Yes. If they qualify for the same division. Divisions are based on age. | |
| 1-F | Question: | Can we get my daughter’s friend on the same team for carpooling purposes? |
| Answer: | No, players are drafted by the managers to form teams. With this process, we cannot guarantee her friend will be on the same team. After the draft is complete, the Managers are informed of requests for ride sharing purposes. The only exception is in the T-Ball Division. In the T-Ball Division, we try to group the girls with their classmates to make it a more enjoyable experience for them. | |
| 1-G | Question: | Why do I have to appear in-person to register? |
| Answer: | We need to verify Birth Certificates for new players to the league. It is imperative to have the girls try on the uniform to have the proper request on the registration form. The form is a four part form that cannot be downloaded so it needs to be filled out in person to make sure all the data we need for the league is filled out and completed. At registration an evaluation time and date is given to come back on evaluation day. | |
| 1-H | Question: | What do our registration fees pay for? |
| Answer: | Fees pay for items such as: Uniforms, balls, insurance, umpire fees, field maintenance, Utilities, Picture Package, Trophies, etc. & one fundraiser product or your buy out. |
|
| 1-I | Question: | Why would the league fees be increased? |
| Answer: | Change of uniform, this upgrade would come with additional cost but one of the largest expenses that the league incurs, is for ASA registered umpires. The fee for one umpire has increased substantially. Another major increase is the lighting bill. | |
| 1-J | Question: | Why are the league fees for T-ball lower than the other divisions? |
| Answer: | We do not use ASA umpires for T-ball and therefore do not incur this expense. | |
| 1-K | Question: | Am I required to show a birth certificate to prove the age of my child? |
| Answer: | Yes, girls new to CGSA must bring a copy of their birth certificate to registration. Returning CGSA players will not require a copy of their birth certificate to register. | |
| 1-L | Question: | Why is the incentive deadline ($10 discount) to submit applications so early? |
| Answer: | In order to obtain field allocations from the City of Corona and to order uniforms in time for the season, we are required to submit our requests in as early as possible. This allows CGSA to properly allocate game and practice fields, plan for uniform purchases, and determine the number of Managers that are required to ensure we have a successful season. | |
| 1-M | Question: | What happens if I submit our application after the 1-L deadline? |
| Answer: | No incentive discount. Girls will still be able to register on the day of evaluations. They will receive a scheduled time for their evaluation. | |
| 1-N | Question: | What happens if I submit my application after evaluations and/or the draft? |
| Answer: | Your daughter will be placed on a waiting list and will be assigned to a team if space becomes available. | |
| 1-O | Question: | When is the cut off for Registration? |
| Answer: | Two weeks after the first games start. Exception: if a team roster falls below 9 players then we will extend cut off date for that division only. | |
| 1-P | Question: | I registered my daughter for the Spring Season. Now What? |
| Answer: | You should be contacted by your daughter’s manager the first week after the draft. The date of the draft is listed on your registration draft ticket and our web site. If you have questions concerning registration, contact the registrar, which can be located under Board Members on our website. | |
| 1-Q | Question: | Can I receive a refund if we change our mind? |

Every softball player who registers before the evaluations deadline and attends the evaluations will be drafted (all others will be placed on teams, space permitting). There are no evaluations for T-Ball players. The T-Ball teams are formed/rostered at the discretion of the T-ball Coordinator and usually grouped by their school. | |

| 3-E | Question: | Why does my child need to attend the Player Evaluations? |
| Answer: | This gives our managers the opportunity to evaluate the skill level of your child. A draft will be held in order to allow each manager to choose players.
