2009 Fall/Winter Season
All,
As the Board year comes to a close I would like to take this opportinity to thank the following members for the dedication, loyalty and service over the course of their term and wish them the very best as they head in their own direction in 2010.
Rich Chavez - Since 2006 as a Division Coordinator in both T-Ball and Micro.
Frank Padilla - Since 2006 as our Minor Coordinator and 2007 - 2009 as 2nd Vice President
Ana Hitzel - 2008/2009 14U Division Coordinator
Nora Velasco - 2008/2009 T-Ball Coordinator
Steve Spooner 2008/2009 Equipment Chairperson
And finally, Jackie Townsend. As with all of the aforementioned Board Members, Jackie will also be missed. Jackie has been on the CGSA Board of Directors for 7 years and in those 7 years she has served in many positions with the past 4 as my 1st Vice President and has always made herself available to help in any capacity. She has been the brains that have put together several opening day events and closing days as well. She has tirelessly worked to bring you our Angel night fundraiser which has been largley successful throughout the years. Jackie was our behind the scenes go getter and when we needed an event planned like Bingo night or Casino night. Jackie, along with her volunteer helpers, would leave no detail unchecked. She constantly made sure that all events were for the benefit of the league and that it was a fun event that supported CGSA for both parents and kids alike. I am not sure that anyone really truly knows how much she has done for this league. She was not a visual poerson that you could see at the fields everyday, but rather aperson that worked diligently at home, or on the road...calling vendors, setting up volunteers and constantly reminding me about what needs to get done. I will personally miss her very much and I appreciate all she has done for this league. Good luck Jackie!
2009/2010 Board of Directors is full and we have quite a few new faces. For a full list of new Board Members, please check on the tab on the left.
Fall/Winter is upon us again. We are blessed to have over 40 teams this season. Our Fall/Winter program has only been around for about 8 years and in the first year we had just a handful of teams and had to interleague with other leagues to make it worthwhile. We player doubleheaders on Saturdays and traveled to Yorba Linda and Riverside for games. Today we do not need to interleague and all games will be at Butterfield Park...in fact we may have to play a week night game just so all can play every week.
This year we will hold our 3rd Annual Winter Diamond Classic to cap off the Fall/Winter Season and then its off to plan for 2010 Spring. Seems far off, but every year it gets here quicker and quicker.
I wish you all a great summer filled with family memories and great times and look forward to seeing you all on the field in September for the Fall/Winter Season.
Randy Thomas
President, CGSA
