Presidents Message

Going into my first year as President I have had a great experience working on providing the girls that play this outstanding sport the best opportunities to improve their game and have fun doing it. This league has done its best to ensure that each and every girl receives the same amount of playing time regardless of skill level.  CGSA’s Board of Directors has had difficulties getting some things off the ground as we have had several new volunteers serving on our board.  I can assure you that this group of board members is determined to ensure that CGSA continues to be the great league that it has been for over 50 years.  We will make decisions based on what we feel is in the best interest of the girls.  That is always our top priority. As President I make it my personal responsibility that all girls are treated with dignity and respect.  I believe that at the recreational level, we should encourage the girls to do their best, and that is all that matters.  Excellence is our goal in everything we do.  We strive to exceed expectations and are always working to improve the way things are done.  At the same time, we will continue to do some things as we have in previous years because they are proven methods that work best for the girls at CGSA.  I assure you that the Board is thankful to have such a great group of Managers, Coaches, Team Moms and Scorekeepers that volunteer their time each and every season.  We embrace and encourage the spirit of volunteerism.  Without the selfless service of these individuals, the girls would not be able to play.  As the 2013 Spring season comes to a close, we can all look back and reflect on the great memories we have experienced. Along the way our parents, along with our girls, have made new friendships that may last a lifetime.  I look forward to seeing you on the dirt for many seasons to come. Being part of the greatest sport ever invented, Girls Fast Pitch Softball, is an experience you will never forget.

Respectfully submitted,

Joe Macias

My final President's Message

Good day CGSA...I hope this message finds you all well and looking forward to summer and the completion of another great Spring season of softball at CGSA!

I've spoken to many of you and some have said they heard the rumor that Terri and I would be leaving the league at the end of the term. It's true. Terri and I made a very tough decision to leave the league after 12 years of service. I say tough because this is more than just a volunteer job for us, it is a part of our life. It's more than just softball, it's the interaction day to day with kids that have a thirst for the game, who want to have fun being kids, and it's the life long relationships we've made and the ones yet to be made that we looked forward to most year after year.

We joined the Board together to make a difference in the lives of these kids. We fell in love with the league, what it stood for, and the kids that played here. We wanted to be a part of something greater than ourselves and hopefully make it better. Since that time we accomplished many things, a move from Coronita Elementary School to Butterfield Park for game day fields, a better snack bar with better food choices and service, 70 plus teams in our Annual All Star Tournament and finally a return to ASA Nationals. We have served this league with some of the finest people we have ever met and we thank you all for allowing us to be a part of your lives and to be your leadership group these past 12 years.

The people in and of Corona are the finest people we know. The friends made here are like family, most have gone on to bigger and better, some are still here with their daughters on a team somewhere, to all of you we love you, we will miss you at the fields, we hope to see you many times throughout life and we wish you all the joy and happiness that life can bring.

Our daughter, Lauren was basically raised here spending every Saturday and week day in the Spring and every Saturday in the Winter seasons at the field. From a little girl who played on the school jungle gym to the young lady that works the window at the snack bar to the gal that used to drag fields, water, shovel dirt and you name it she did it everything else, has spent more time here than most and has loved every minute of it. She never complained and always found a way to enjoy being at the field, even if it was helping Mom and Dad put things away at the end of the night. We love you babe...we are so looking forward to your Senior year at Corona High!

The road hasn't always been smooth, we've seen our fair share of the rough times. We've had to make tough decsions that have not always been the popular choice, but in our hearts the right one. We've always tried to be fair and honest and hope that has shined through in our  performance. We have seen the great times as well and fortunately the good times far outweigh the bad.

The nominations committee has met and new leaders are heading your way. They will no doubt have ideas on changes to the league to make it better. They will do things differently and I hope they do. They will do a great job for you, I am confident in that.  I wish them the best of luck as they carry on the great tradition of fastpitch softball here in Corona and the level of excellence that has been established.

We will always remember the smile of a child accomplishing what she thought she couldn't on the field...it's what has kept us going all these years. It's them we live for and will always treasure.

In closing, we wish all of you the best in life, keep God close to you, enjoy your families, and best of luck on your softball futures.

For the love of the game and the players who play it, so long CGSA, we love you!

Randy and Terri Thomas
