Frequently Asked Questions about Fundraising

CCHA Fundraiser Frequently Asked Questions

Q.         What are we doing for a fundraiser?
A.        We are printing a yearbook that will have approximately 16 pages of photos of the players and teams with individual pictures as well as team and action photos. To raise money, we are selling ad space in that yearbook. Advertisers are purchasing space in the yearbook with a portion allocated to player registration costs.

Q.        How much is an ad?
A.        Ads are priced based on size. They start at $125.00 for a 1/8 page and go to $1,000.00 for a full page ad. A full list of pricing is available in the tri-fold brochures which can be picked up at the snack bar at the Ice House.

Q.        What is the money raised used for?
A.        First, we have to cover the cost of printing and related expenses which is around $4,000.00. After that is covered you will receive at least 75% of the net profits to go directly to your players dues. The remaining portion will go to CCHA and pay any taxes due.

Q.        Is there a limit as to how many ads 1 person can sell?
A.        Absolutely not!!!! You are encouraged to sell as much as possible. Ideally, we would like to see each person sell more in ads that the amount needed to cover your dues. Keep in mind CCHA is a non-profit company. If there is a surplus in revenues, this will help to keep costs down in the future. All money raised benefits everyone in the CCHA.

Q.        Is there anything else we are selling besides ads?
A.        Yes, we also have sponsorships available. $1,500.00 Team Sponsor, $2,500.00 Premier Sponsor and $5,000.00 Title Sponsor. More information is available in the brochures at the Ice House.

Q.        Are these ads tax deductible?
A.        Yes. To the extent advertising is a deductible business expense, advertisers may deduct against income.

Q.        What do I need to turn in when I sell an ad and where do I turn it in?
A.        You need to collect a check made out to Coastal Carolina Hockey Association, a copy of what they want printed for the ad, and which player sold the ad. If there is not a hard copy of the artwork they want, they can e-mail it to mjohnst21@yahoo.com Once you have gathered all of that turn it in to the CCHA mail box located next to the snack bar at the Ice House or give it to Mike Johnston.

Q.        When is the cut-off date to turn ads in?
A.        Initial printing takes 3 to 4 weeks. We would like to have everything turned in by the middle of October so the cut-off date is Saturday, October 11,2008.

Q.        Who do I contact if I have further questions?
A.        You can contact Mike Johnston via e-mail at mjohnst21@yahoo.com
