BASEBALL & SOFTBALL!
The 2009 All Star Brackets are being updated daily. Please see D40 Tournaments tab.
You have reached Little League Baseball's, California District 40's official website. We are located in the North-West San Fernando Valley and represent 11 Little League charters.
Our leagues encompass the entire San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, Castaic and as far North as Frazier Mountain (select League Location tabs above).
Our Mission is to serve as liaison between the league's President and Little League Baseball, Inc., conduct monthly informational meetings, and help our leagues throughout the season.
The responsibilities of the District Administrator is to acquaint all leagues with the information disseminated out of Little League International, assisting in settling problems, reviewing with them the proposed amendments, reporting to them on the business of Congress, interpreting adopted changes, review and investigate the organization, review and investigate problems as referred by Little League International and be well informed.
This site covers all aspects of Baseball and Softball for the current season, within the District boundaries. Please check your league site for current information regarding your leagues activities.
This is also the site where you can learn about the best this District and Section has to offer. District 40 is currently a part of Section II and Division III for tournament play.
Learn and grow with us, and the District's Umpire Consultants, as they mold our umpire program. Watch us as we grow and expand into a league in your neighborhood.
District meetings are held on the 1st Monday of each month. These meetings are for league presidents or their approved substitute and are by invitation of the District Administrator only.
In closing, the entire District 40 Staff welcome's you.
We would also like to pay a special THANK YOU to all of the League and District volunteers, without whose dedication to the children in your communities, regular season and tournament games would not be possible. Good Luck!
Thank you,
Domenic Iadevaia

TO ALL INTERESTED LITTLE LEAGUE PARENTS
I hope I've got your interest!
The 2009 Season has started and before you know it, it will also be over, or at least All Star time.
I am sure that you know that rules and regulations require any and all participants to reside within their leagues boundaries. Unless the league at which you are registered, has applied for and been granted a waiver for those players. We won't go too much farther into this.
With one exception. From previous years, many comments and complaints that cross the District's desk are as follows, from all concerned parents, especially when the International Tournament (All-Stars)time arrives:
1. Why didn't you tell me?
2. Why didn't the board apply for that waiver?
3. My child has been playing here for years, why wasn't I informed of this rule?
4. My child has been playing on that team all season, he/she deserves to play on a tournament team.
5. I was told that the waiver was approved!
6. I was told that the waiver was for the remainder of their career!
7. What can we do to get my child approved?
8. What can we do so that the adults in my league don't do this to any more children.
9. I thought that we were grandfathered in!
and my favorite
10. You can't do that, it's not fair to the children.
To this, my answer is, that a parent's repsonsibility to their child does not stop when the game or practice is over, not even after you have paid for registration. You should always follow through to make sure that you are placing your children in the correct league and that all of the formalities have been completed by the volunteers at that league. There is no formal penalty to adults who fail in their responsibility to the players or the league, due to improper or missed paperwork.
But in fairness, please consider all of the hours these volunteers spend, so the children in their league can have a quality program to play in, which is, your league. These volunteers put in an enormous amount of time towards their leagues responsibilites, as well as manage a family life and not to mention, a full time job. Many of these dedicated volunteers don't have any children playing in that league anymore.
If you have any concern about your league's boundaries, or even which league boundary you reside in, please visit the following website (www.cad40ll.org/chkaddr.aspx) and check it out. It might be an eye opening adventure for all. The earlier you realize there might be a problem, the sooner that problem can be addressed in the proper manner.
Another thought towards tournaments is the proof required, if your child should be chosen for All-Stars. It might be wise to locate those proofs now and avoid being disappointed or disqualified. There is only a brief, one-week time frame between announcing teams and certifying teams.
Best Wishes from the District Staff
Domenic Iadevaia
District Administrator
