Please read the following regarding this year's Concession Stand:

Hello Softball and Baseball families,

Welcome to another year of ball!  This year we are looking for one parent (or more!) from each team in the league who is willing to assist with the concession stand.  Now, before you stop reading this...please hear me out.  I already know what you’re thinking:  “I’m too busy, I work, I have little kids who need watched, I have other children, I don’t want to miss my child’s game, I’m already involved in too much”... and the list goes on.  Trust me, I am right there with you, but it really isn’t that difficult.  However, the league pays all the umpires (which totals more than $4,000 a season) and reimburses the families who work there during the season their $20 concession stand fee.  So the concession stands are actually a very important factor in the success of our league.

If we have enough parents helping you would be responsible for one week of opening/closing the stand either at Meridian or Aldeman.  (We will take into consideration where your child plays, you can split the week with the other parent, etc.)  Opening and closing the stand DOES NOT mean you stay and work during the games.  The responsibilities are actually minimal and not very time consuming, but essential to the success of the league.  To open, you and a partner (you aren’t alone!): take the money box, turn on fryers, turn on the fans, cheese dispenser and hot dog machine.  Then you show any new parents working that night where things are, how things work.  Then you get to leave and watch your child play ball.  When the games are over, you go back to the stand, pay umpires out of the money box, reimburse the parents who worked for their $20, count remaining money, make sure everything is turned off, wash any dishes for the next night that are needed (again these are minimal) and lock up.

We are hoping to have the stand up and running for opening day so if you could let me know ASAP if you are able to help, I would greatly appreciate it.  You can reply to this email or call me at the number below. Many hands make light work and if everyone helps, it does not become a burden to just a few families.  I would be happy to answer any questions you might have.  Feel free to call my cell 724-602-1757 if you have any questions.  I do work during the day, so please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Thanks in advance for all your help in continuing to make Butler Ball a place where our kids enjoy playing.  I’m looking forward to hearing from you, the nice weather and watching some ball!
