Burlington National 9-10 Baseball Allstars

District 2 Champions

Advance to State

 

Burlington 9-10 Baseball went 6-0 through The District 2 Tournament ending a perfect run Sunday with a 4-2 win over Davenport East.  They move on to the Iowa Little League State tournament to be held in Davenport Iowa starting July 19th.  They will play 4 pool games against the other 4 District Champions from Iowa and the 2 teams with the best pool play record will play in the championship game Thursday the 24th.  We wish the boys the best of luck.

The 11-12 girls finished 2nd in The District 2 Tournament with a 6-1 loss to Davenport South. They were 1-1 in pool play.

The 10-11 boys finished the pool play with a record of 2-2.

The 11-12 boys finished the tournament at 3-2.   They went 3-1 in pool play and finished their season with a heart breaking 7-6 semi-finals loss to NorthWest Saturday in Davenport.

The 9-10 girls finished 0-3 in pool play at Walcott.

District Tournament Dates are set

The dates have been set for the Start of the District Tournament games in each age group.

9/10 Softball                               Begins July 7 and will be completed July 14

11/12 Softball                              Begins July 7 and will be completed July 14

9/10 Baseball                               Begins July 7 and will be completed July 13

10/11 Baseball                              Begins July 7 and will be completed July 13

11/12 Baseball                              Begins July 7 and will be completed July 13

The tournaments on the boys side for the 9/10 and 11/12 will be a modified pool play format with 2 pools.  Each team will play 4 games and the top two teams from each pool will play in a single elimination final.  The 10/11 year old district will be a pool play format with 2 pools and each team playing 3 games.  The top two teams in each pool will advance to a single elimination final.

The tournaments on the girls side for the 9/10 and 11/12 will be a pool play format with 1 pool.  Each team will play 5 games in pool play and the top two teams will play one game to determine the championship.

The pairings will not be available until the coaches meeting which will be Saturday morning June 28th at 10:00 am at the Clarion Hotel in Davenport.  This is a mandatory meeting for at least one member of each tournament team and the league president or their representative.

DAVENPORT NORTHWEST TO HOST BOYS STATE TOURNAMENTS

Davenport Northwest has been selected as the site for the 2008 State Championships for baseball in the 9-10 year old division and the 11-12 year old division.  

The tournament will begin on Saturday July 19th and run through Thursday July 24.  There will be a number of special events going on for the kids and their families during tournament week.  After Saturdays opening round games the teams will be treated to a night with the Quad City River Bandits.  They will be introduced on the field prior to the game.  On Sunday, after the conclusion of play Golicks Meat Market will provide a picnic for all the players coaches and families.  The picnic is being sponsored by Lujack's.

Other events and specials are being planned throughout the week. 

The championship games on Thursday night will be televised by Medicom.

The tournaments will be a pool play format with the top two teams playing in the finals on Thursday night.  The winner in the 11-12 year old division will advance to the Regional Tournament in Indianapolis the following week and will be one step closer to the Little League World Series which begins on August 15th in Williamsport PA.  Winners in the 9-10 year old division conclude international tournament play with the State Tournament.
