  Welcome

Welcome to the 2007 season of little league baseball. I am looking forward to a great season. I want to thank you, in advance for all of the support that you give the Bunker Hill Little League.

Bunker Hill Little League (BHLL) is chartered by the Little League Headquarters, which is located in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. BHLL will follow all official little league rules. If you have any questions about the rules that your child is playing under, please speak with your manager or coach.

BHLL is a self-supported league. We rely on the fundraiser to meet all of our financial obligations. The board of directors asks for your support with the fundraiser. If you do not want to participate, the board asks for a one-time buyout fee. Please see the fundraiser brochure for more information.

Little league is a great motivator for children. T-Ball is the first league a child is eligible to play in. 5 and 6 year olds play in this league. The ball is hit off of a tee. No child will strike out. All children get to hit the ball. The games last approximately one (1) hour.

Once a child turns 7, the child begins to play in the Farm League. The children in this league are 7 or 8 years old. The coach pitches the ball. It is possible for a child to strike out but the child learns some about commitment and determination. Winning and losing properly are taught in this league. These games last approximately one (1) hour and 15 minutes.

Once a child turns 9, he/she has learned the basic skills needed to play baseball. The child now has the opportunity to try out for the Major League or to be placed upon a Minor League team.

Both Major League and Minor League teams are comprised of 9 to 12 year olds. If a child tries out for the Major League but is not drafted, he/she will be placed on a Minor League team with the opportunity to try out again the following year. Try outs are held in the fall for the following season. Minor League and Major League are both allotted one(1) hour and 45 minutes per game. As a parent/guardian, you play a very important part in your child’s Little League experience. Please try to have your child at as many practices and games as possible. Please notify your manager immediately if you know that your child will miss a certain game or practice.

In Farm, Minor and Major league, BHLL pays an umpire to make the correct call for your child. To help assist in that payment, the league will sell 50/50 tickets. You can purchase five (5) tickets for $1. Once everyone has had the opportunity to buy tickets, three winning tickets are drawn. The first winning ticket number will win half of the money collected. The second winning ticket number will win a sandwich from the concession stand. The third winning ticket wins a small popcorn and small drink from the concession stand.

Throughout the year, money will be collected for various reasons. The concession stand buyout fee has now been included with the registration money to help reduce the number of times you are asked for money. You will be responsible to purchase treat tickets for your child to enjoy after each game. Team and individual pictures will be taken. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to absorb this cost.

Rain out games will be played on the first available date and playing field. In the event of a game being called because of weather, it is the responsibility of the team manager to notify each player on the team.

The league has incorporated three (3) playing fields to help facilitate practice and game schedules for all teams. To continue to keep the facilities presentable for all guests, including you, volunteer work is necessary. Any man-hours, material and/or finances available would be greatly appreciated to keep the maintenance of the fields at the best possible playing conditions.

Thank you for your cooperation and effort towards the success of the Bunker Hill Little League. Again, it is through the volunteered effort of all involved that our children benefit.
