EAGLES BEAT JFK LEAGUE CHAMPS!!!

In a close and hard-fought battle, the Buffalo Eagles emerged victorious from the 1st ever cross-town rivalry game at Ralph Wilson Fieldhouse yesterday.

Beating the Irish of the JFK League 13-12, the Eagles secured their place as a legitimate power in WNY recreational football.

The two teams were never separated by more than 6 points at any time during the contest as both defenses adjusted to schemes and rules that they were not exactly used to.

"They hit hard and played physical but we wore down slower and seemed quicker in the 4th quarter", said Eagles WR Joe Malzewski.

Overall, both teams played practically flawless defense and it was the behind the help of two clutch interceptions by Nick Carrow that the Eagles finally came out with more points on the board.

The Eagles scored late on a short, yet spectacular run by QB Bobby McConnel to take the 13-12. After a long completion to Hakeem Hicks and a pass interference call in the endzone, McConnel was upended as he ran into the endzone and pulled a NFL-style flip into the endzone for what proved to be the game-winning TD.

A great pass rush and coverage by the Eagles Defense led The Irish to turn the ball over on downs with just under 30 seconds to play.

Eagles DE Matt Carlucci: "It was great to come out of here with a win. I know it's only flag-football but you look at the walls of this building and there's pictures of guys like Jim Kelly, Bruce Smith, Thurman Thomas, and OJ. It's pretty cool winning on the same field where the Bills do thier thing."

On the line for this game was pride and a paid league fee for the winner. The Eagles will be once again playing in the RFL and now have that fee paid in full.
