Master Bruins competed at the World Masters Games and after playing 12 games and coming second - Played PKP at the Olympic Stadium in the grand final but came up short facing a great pitcher but that secured a silver medal and a place in the history books. It was a big effort with only 12 players to start with but only 10 at the end which was scary as it would have taken only one injury to de-rail the plan. PKP had a massive roster which afforded them the luxury of resting all their personel. Pitcher Murray Britt was carrying an existing knee injury but lasted to pitch the Grand Final and did an excellent job. Catching was Richard Devey-1st Base Phil Powell-2nd Ray Bartorillo-3rd Chris Stahlhut - Shortstop Raymond Lane - Leftfield Martin Connolly-Centrefield Nigel Jones- Rightfield Peter Strauss was relieved by Ian Gyte. Chris Britt and Craig Churchland had to leave early due to work commitments but have received their medals for services to the team.
After many months of organising and stressing, I would like to thank Raymond Lane for all his help organising the buses used to get down there and out and about down there and Steve Dowell for being the best manager I have seen for awhile and Tony Chave for coaching the team -these two guys have made my life so much easier and making the team members time easier.Well Done Boys.
We received many compliments on our uniforms, banner and behaviour and have educated people on what the word Bruins means (brown bear) and I am very proud of my boys and how well they did and think this may be our first step in a new arena.
