GAME: Bruins Brown v Bruins Orange
Can the young guns defeat their older more experienced club mates? That's the question.
Both teams have talented players but the young bloods were hungry and ready to take on their older more experienced brothers.
1st INNINGS
Brown team
Peter Strauss got on on an error and scored on a hit from Richard Devey.
Orange team
Martin Connolly got on on a walk and was scored on a hit by their pitcher Greg Anderson.
2nd INNINGS
Brown team
Paul Humphries was hit by a pitched ball, advanced to 2nd on a bunt by Troy Sutherland advanced to 3rd on and error which gained 1st base for Chris Turner, pitcher. Troy scored when the catcher Josh Maddick made a wild throw attempting a pick off.
Orange team
Did not score
3rd INNINGS
Richard Devey lead off with a double to left field and scored on a hit by Kevin Stockford, 3rd base. In total the Brown team scored 3 runs with the Orange team scoring 1 run, Martin Connolly, being batted in by Heeney Reid, 1st base.
At this stage of the game with the score being 5runs to 2 to the Brown team, it looked to be all over for the young guns.
4th INNINGS
Someone forgot to tell the older brothers the young guns were not about to give up. Young guns scored 7 runs with the Brown team scoring only 1 run. End of innings score Orange 9 Brown 6
5th INNINGS
Neither team scored
6th INNINGS
Richard Devey started the innings with a huge over the fence home run. Two more runs were scored for the Brown team and none for the young guns. Score 9 all.
7th INNINGS
Top of the 7th innings saw Peter Strauss score on an in diamond home run by Matt McColl.
The Orange team failed to score.
Final score Brown 11 Orange 9
The Orange team out batted the Brown team 10 hits to 9.
At the bottom of the 5th innings Richard Devey came in to pitch and shut the Orange batters down giving up 1 hit and taking 6 K2's.
All three ptichers pitched well with 11 of the 20 runs being unearned.
Greg Anderson, Orange team's pitcher, did a great job for his team but was let down by fielding errors.
The same story applies to Chris Turner for the Brown team.
Greg and Chris are from New Zealand and are a credit to their New Zealand clubs.
Josh Maddick did a good job catching and with the bat for the Orange team. Matt Thursfield also had a good game with 2 long outfield hit which scored runners.
Kevin Stockford, 3 hit and 2 runs, and Richard Devey, 3 hits including a home run and 3 runs, were the Brown team's most consistant batters.
