TEAM TRASH, WATER BOTTLES & TAPE
Varsity and Summer Soccer Coaches....
Please make sure your players are cleaning up after their games.
There have been some complaints from the people who are nice
enough to allow us to use their fields. It is not their responsibility
to pick up trash that your players are leaving. If you can't get your
players to pick up their water bottles, tape and trash then it is your job
to clean up before you leave. There are plenty of garbage pails at
all our fields and sites. Simple get our players to use them.

PORT-A-LAV'S
There are Port-A-Lav's at the P/M and Sachem Youth Complexes.
There are bathrooms at all the Town of Brookhaven soccer fields.
Please make sure your players are using them and not the woods !
Thanks for helping make our summer soccer program successful.

DAILY WEATHER RELATED CANCELLATION information
************************************************************************************
Brookhaven Town Soccer will be starting it's 32nd Summer Soccer Season.
The program is now in the forming stages.
If you have interest in playing in our High School Varsity or JV leagues
you should talk to your High School's Varsity Soccer Coach.
If you have interest in playing in our Men's U-23 league you can contact
the U-23 League Supervisor who can put you in contact with a U-23 coach.
************************************************************************************
|
| We don't play in Lightning ! |
*******************************************************************************************
WEATHER RELATED CANCELLATIONS
*******************************************************************************************
* A decision to cancel games due to bad weather is usually made around 3pm
* Check right here or call the rain phone after 3pm
* Brookhaven Soccer offers a RAIN PHONE to provide cancellation information.
BOY'S RAIN PHONE = 451-6972
GIRL'S RAIN PHONE = 451-6144
U-23 RAIN PHONE = 451-6129
If there is no weather related information you MUST go to the field.
* Due to the fact that we have games spread over an area from Stony Brook
University on the north to Medford on the south a decision to cancel is usually
made at the fields by the soccer Field Supervisors and soccer referees.
* We do play games in light rain but when lightning is sighted the games are
stopped, everyone will be asked to find shelter, and a decision to continue will
be made after a 30 minute wait period if the game is "un-official" and a 10 minute
wait period if the game is "official." An "official" game is a game that has been
played for 30 minutes of more.
* You can check right here for DAY-BY-DAY cancellation information.
**************************************************************************
|
| Rain Phone |

We do NOT play soccer when Lightning is sighted !
If lightning is sighted the game is stopped and everyone finds shelter.
An "official" game... is when at least 1 half of play is completed
If the game is "official", at least one half of the game has been completed, the soccer
referees and Field Supervisors must wait 10 minutes before deciding to continue play
or cancelling the match. If the game is canceled, the score remains and the game is
counted in the standings.
An "un-official" game... is when a half of play is not completed
If the game is "un-official", a half of the game has not been completed, the referees
and Field Supervisors must wait for 30 minutes before deciding to play or cancel the
game. If the game is resumed, at least 30 minutes of soccer must be played before the
game can become an "official" game and count in the standings. If the game is not resumed,
the League Supervisor will decide if the game is re-scheduled.
In the event that the referees and or Field Supervisors leave the field before these
time mandates, they will not be paid for that game.
* This rule applies to both games of a double header *
***********************************************************************************
HEAT & HUMIDITY ISSUES
Any night the Soccer Supervisors, Referees, Field Supervisors
or Summer Soccer Coaches feel that the temperture and humidity
levels are high the games will have MANDITORY water breaks.
The water breaks can be between halves (every 15 minutes) or the
games can even be broken into 10 minute periods with 5 water
breaks within the 60 minute game. It is the position of the
Brookhaven Town Soccer Program that this policy is safe.
If parents feel that their son or daughter is not safe then they
certainly have the right to have their child sit out that evening.

New Rule...
RED card clearification...
The Soccer Supervisors have added a new rule for 2012 which clarifies
our policy on RED card suspensions. Our rules are clear when a player
or coach is RED carded. That person may not play or coach while serving
his or her 2 game suspension.
While suspended that person is not allowed to attend any games or be
present at any of the fields.
Further RED card clarification...
We must also make it very clear that this policy includes all Town of Brookhaven
Soccer games and activities. For example... if a player is RED carded while playing
in our Men's College U-23 program he cannot coach a High School team until his
suspension is being served. If a coach is RED carded while coaching a JV team
he or she is not allowed to coach a Varsity team in any of our leagues. If a Varsity
or summer coach's name appears on a boy's roster and a girl's roster... he or she is
not allowed to coach or be at any game sponsored by Brookhaven Soccer while
serving the 2 game RED card suspension. This is simple common scense and unifies
our goal to create a safe and respectful summer soccer program.
***********************************************************************************************************
New Rule...
The Soccer Supervisors have implemented a new Town of Brookhaven soccer rule which
will supercede the High School Federation rule book.
Effective Immediatelly...
All soccer referees who officiate Town of Brookhaven sponsored soccer games will
now be allowed to issue 2 RED cards to a player or coach in the same game.
This rule covers all High School boy's varsity and JV matches, all High School girl's
varsity and JV games and all college U-23 men's soccer games. This rule will be e-mailed
to everyone who is associated with our summer soccer program. It will be posted here and
on the rules page of this web site. It will be published in all future Town of Brookhaven
soccer rules sheets.
This rule will give the Soccer Supervisors the authority to suspend a player or coach for
the remainder of the summer if he/she receives 2 RED cards in the same game. It must
also be noted that if this happens near the end of the summer season the player or coach
MUST be suspended for no less than 4 games. His/her penalty may carry over into the next
summer soccer season. Please explain this rule to all players, parents and summer coaches.
Points of clarification...
COACHES
Any coach who is RED carded must leave the bench area. If there is no assistant coach
or "fill-in" coach the game will end and a forfeit will be awarded to the opposing team
no matter what the score may be. This includes games that may only be in the first half
of play. This includes all boy's, girl's and college U-23 games.
HIGH SCHOOL PLAYERS
High School boys & girls players who are RED carded may remain on the bench area.
He/she will be subject to a additional cards. His/her coach may also receive a card if
additional in-appropriate behavior is expressed.
COLLEGE U-23 PLAYERS
Any college U-23 player who is RED carded must leave the bench area. If he refuses to
leave or creates additional problems he may receive additional cards which could result in
his suspension from the program.
If further clarification is needed please contact a Soccer Supervisor.

We appologize to all our Teams & Goalkeepers !
Although we recognize that any (0-0) tie is a SHUTOUT for both teams
and both goalkeeppers, we must let you know that this web site does not
recognize a (0-0) tie as a shutout.
The 'eteamz' software has been updated from time-to-time but they have not
yet corrected this glitch. We have contacted 'eteamz' and they tell us that it
will be corrected the next time their team web site software is updated.
