Brighton Youth Football Bulldogs: Dog Bones
Saturday, March 14Welcome to the 2009 Season
Hello Everyone, I want to welcome everyone to the 2009 season. It’s been another busy off season from buying or upgrading equipment to planning fundraiser events such as BW3’s (Buffalo Wild Wings), the picnic auction, and our newest fund raising efforts with Krazy Kops Charity poker nights. With the help from our newest board members we hope to have another fun, successful season. Dawn DesRosiers is our new Secretary and writes the newsletter, updates the website, and much more. She will be your contact for any general questions. Andy Boschma is the new Treasurer and will be happy to answer any payment questions. Volunteering is pivotal to the success of BYF so I want to thank everyone in advance for doing their part in making it a great experience for all of the kids. If you have any questions about volunteering, please contact Carolynn West. If you would like to get more involved with the organization, please contact any board member. Board contact information and volunteer job descriptions can be found on the website. Nobody likes fundraising, but it is a necessary evil that BYF must use to be able to purchase or upgrade the equipment and uniforms that are needed to keep our kids safe and properly attired. Registration fees cover costs such as; League franchise fee, insurance, referees, Cheer Rally, and playoffs. That said I understand the economy is in sad shape so we are trying to come up with ideas that are less painful for everyone. Last year’s picnic and auction went over very well, so we will do it again. Anyone who has anything (Tiger tickets, College Football tickets, goods, services) they can donate for the auction can contact our Marketing Director, Natalie Kaltz. This is Natalie’s 2nd year with us and she is the brains behind the auction and the reason it’s a success. We will continue our Can Drive (bring your receipts to the equipment shed ) and we will begin to collect VG’s receipts (bring your receipts to the equipment shed). To save on printing costs we will no longer hand out a weekly newsletter, it will be sent by email only (if you do not have access to email please contact Dawn DesRosiers). The weekly newsletter will be for; reminders, uniforms, and schedule changes. The website will have the long term info such as; game, practice and event time/dates, scores, and board contact information. The Divisions have been set and we are faced with some good competition (Farmington, Plymouth-Canton, Canton, Rochester, and both Westland teams) so it will be an exciting season. We are still accepting cheerleaders, and football players for the Jr. Freshman, and Varsity squads. Please ask friends and neighbors to check out our website or contact a board member for more information. Once again welcome back and I hope to have a successful BYF year! Sincerely, Robert Spencer President Brighton Youth Football
