The mission of the Bridgeport Bandit Sports Association is to work in conjunction with Bridgeport and Spaulding Townships Parks and Recreation Departments in the development of, promotion of, and support of recreation programs for the youth and families of these communities. We will accomplish this through the “Banding” together of the sports programs of Bridgeport Township, Spaulding Township and Bridgeport- Spaulding School District. Through a Commissioners program each varsity coach of the high school, will help in the development of their sport that will assure that all players are properly equipped, coached, and judged, according to the rules and regulations and guidelines as set forth by the governing bodies of the sport, and as presented by the State of Michigan.

Midland, MI will host the 2008 USA Women’s Olympic Softball Team this summer. The 2008 USA Women’s Olympic Softball Team will play the Midland Lady Explorers at 3 p.m. June 21 in Currie Stadium at Emerson Park. Midland, MI will be one of 50 tour stops made by the 2008 USA Women’s Olympic Softball Team as part of the “Bound 4 Beijing” Tour. After playing over 60 games against NCAA Division I opponents, Regional All-Star teams and International Competition, the 2008 USA Women’s Olympic Softball Team will travel to the Olympics where they will be competing for the their fourth consecutive gold medal.
“Our community has an exciting opportunity,” said Brian Rodgers, Board Chair of the Midland Area Community Foundation. ‘Our Lady Explorers will play the 2008 USA Women’s Olympic Softball Team and our community will have the opportunity to watch it live, right here in Midland, MI.”
Softball will cease to be a medal sport in the Olympics after this year, so for the foreseeable future, this is the last Olympic Softball Team. Rodgers commented, “This is last possible year for an opportunity like this. We are so pleased to be able to bring this to the residents of Midland and to host such talented athletes in our city.”
Tickets will be available free of charge on a first come first served basis in April. For ticket and event information, see the Midland Area Community Foundation website at www.midlandfoundation.org

The Bridgeport Bandits 5 year strategic plan is now available to read online. After close to 3 years of work this plan is finally completed and is being implemented. One of the reasons this plan has taken so long to complete, is that the Board of Trustees were accomplishing their goals, in some cases, faster than the plan could be updated and rewritten.
The Trustee in charge of keeping this plan updated is Paul DeSander. We would like to thank him for volunteering his time to do this duty for the Board of Trustees.
