NOTICE:  No Practice Tuesday or Wednesday!  Schools closed for snow!  No Practice Thursday, Christmas Eve.

Our practice schedule is Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday

from 6:30pm until 8:00 or 8:15pm in the BDHS wrestling room.


The whole team will practice together.  We practice three days so that you have the flexibility to make at least two practices a week given your other commitments.  You can do three a week if you like and we would even encourage it for first year wrestlers until the first tournament.
 
We have a 15 minute 'soft' end time so that we can train up to 8:00 and a little beyond if we are working on a particular move and have time for a game possibly.  However, please feel free to get your wrestler at 8:00 sharp if you need to get him home.  This may be be particularly important for younger wrestlers that are pooped and need to go home.

For many years the Brentsville Tigers Wrestling Program has served as the feeder program for Brentsville District High School's wrestling team.  Many of the State Champions from Brentsville and the majority of Varsity Wrestlers at Brentsville started in the Brentsville Tiger Youth Wrestling Program.

Our team prepares young wrestlers with sound fundamentals and plenty of tournament mat time.  We wrestle Folkstyle for boys (and girls) from 5 years of age through middle school (14 years).  We practice evenings at Brentsville District High School with the support and participation of their team and coach.  Our tournaments are on weekends at area high schools.   

Our 2009 - 2010 tournament schedule is not set yet but expect one tournament in mid December and then a break until early January when we will wrestle most weekends until March.

Wrestling is probably the oldest organized sport in the world.  Wrestling requires and enhances fitness, coordination, self-discipline, sportsmanship, pride, strength, and co-operation.

2009 - 10 Season Age Divisions

Tournaments are run by grouping wrestlers based on their age division, their experience level, and then their weight.  Wrestlers are weighed just before each tournament and then wrestlers are paired for matches within their group.

These are the age divisions for the 2009 - 2010 Season

Using the year of your wrestler's birth, find their division.  Then, on the Schedule (in handouts  http://www.eteamz.com/BrentsvilleTigerWrestling/handouts/#1726361) find out when your weigh-in closes.  The time on the schedule is when your weigh-in closes.  That means you have to be there well in advance of that time to register and get weighed in.  If you miss the weigh-in for your division, your choices are to not wrestle or stay to wrestle in the next higher division.

Updated Documents in Handout Section

We use just a few sections of this site to update information to our members.  You find them on the navigation on the left. 

  • The Homepage will have upcoming calendar events and news.
  • Handouts will have forms and information on procedures for our team, tournaments, health, camps, and wrestling in general as well as our schedule.  Please check the handouts section for new information.  In particular, read the 'What Happens at Our Tournaments' document so that you know what to expect.  If you don't want to read it you can always track us down to ask questions at the meet but, depending on what we are doing at the time, you may get just a short answer.
  • Links will have other sites that pertain to wrestling.
  • Locations has the address and a map link to the high schools where our tournaments are held.

The reality is that I may not get around to putting the schedule into the 'Calendar' portion of this website.  Sorry.  Look on the schedule in handouts for when we have tournaments.

CAWL (Beltway) Wrestling Team Forming

The CAWL is another league in the area that provides a youth wrestling experience.  This league consists of teams throughout NVA and MD.  Teams are comprised of experienced wrestlers that vie for a spot on the team at a particular weight.  Meets consist of both dual meets and tournaments.

Tim Weaver is putting together a team for Western PWC to practice at Manassas Park in conjunction with the Manassas Park Cougars, Hylton Boys and Girls Club, Brentsville Tigers, and Haymarket Hurricanes NVWF teams.  The team will be called the Manassas Marauders.
 
His first practice will be Thursday December 3rd at Manassas Park High School.  Time is to be determined.  (approximately 6:30 pm)
 
He will conduct wrestle-offs in late December to determine the number one wrestler in each weight class.  Dual meets are scheduled to begin in Janurary.  A wrestler winning his weight class will be able to wrestle approximately 14 dual meets and several tournaments for approximately 20 matches for the season.  Dual meets are similar to high school matches....two wrestlers competing with a paid wrestling official.
 
The CAWL league has an open tournament scheduled for Sunday December 6th at Robinson High school.  You do not have to belong to the Marauders to participate in the tournament.  See the CAWL website for details.

50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 110, 115, 122, 130, 145, 165, 200
