JV wins District 24-5A title

Buc JV team was crowned district champs on Saturday May 9th with a win against Galveston Ball 10-5.

Chase Rousseau took a no hitter into the fifth inning and the Buc baserunning was outstanding putting the pressure on the Galveston defense all day long.

Coach Cathcart is extremely proud of his squad who finished the season 19-4.  Way to go guys, you worked hard and played ball the right way.  ALL FOR ONE!!!!!!

Offensive standouts include: Michael Pyeatt, William Easter, John Ermis, Alec Cato, and James Cantu.

District Play

Brazoswood JV.  Defeated Clear Springs 11-5 in a game in which the Buc bats were hot early and hot late.  Michael Pyeatt led the way with a 3 for 3 night, and the dynamic duo of Chase Rousseau and Ricky Ramos shut the door on the Clear spring bats.

Brazoswood JV lost a tough one to Alvin 7-5.  Facing superb Alvin pitching the Bucs manufactured 3 runs and had a chance to rally late, however the Alvin southpaw was too much too often and the Bucs came up a little short.

Brazoswood JV put together its most impressive performance of the year on the road at Clear Brook, beating Brook 11-2 behind hot sticks and a masterful pitching performance by Ricky Ramos.  Brandon Bergen hit a bomb for the Bucs who pounded out 17 hits.  The Buc “D” also joined the party with a flawless night.

The Bucs' record stands at 2-1 in district and 12-2 overall.

Monday, March 9
Fort Bend Tournament

The Brazoswood JV team traveled to the Fort Bend Tournament this past weekend where they posted a 4-0 record on their way to winning the Championship.

The Buc bats were hot, and the left arm of Chase Rousseau was even hotter, pitching a complete game three hitter in the opening game.

Offensive standouts in the tournament were James Cantu, Alec Cato, and William Easter.

The Bucs really turned on the offense on Saturday afternoon pounding Kempner 18-2.  That game was followed by the Championship game against Katy in which Ricky Ramos got the victory on the hill with a 6-5 win in a tight and well played ball game.

Sunday, March 1
Manvel Tournament

JV won third place this weekend at the Manvel JV tournament.  After losing the first game to Kempner, the Bwood JV came back with a 6-5 defeat of Dulles and a 24-6 thrasing fo Alvin in which Bwood pounded out 21 hits.  The JV team learned a lot form the games this weekend and hopefully can build on this weekend when they travel to the highly competitive Fort Bend tournament.
