DEFENDING CHAMPS TO HAVE DIFERENT LOOK IN 2012

In 2011 Bobby Williams and the boys down in Clute accomplished what many never do; they went a perfect 12-0 in the post season. With many teams opting for three gamers this is a most impressive accomplishment and when you look at the path traveled its monumental. Heading into the 2011 play-offs, the Buccaneers carried the H5AB Coaches #13 ranking and stepped on the gas from that point on defeating Kempner in a two game sweep, swept South Houston in two games, swept H5AB Coaches #19, Deer Park in two games, swept H5AB Coaches #2, HISD Lamar in two games, swept H5AB Coaches #3, Memorial in two games. That got them to the State Tournament where they defeated H5AB Coaches #12 Klein to reach the Championship game vs. Coronado.
But like every new season 2012 will bring a variety of challenges for the defending champs. Gone are 2012 H5AB MVP – Branden Burgen, James Cantu, Will Renner, Michael Pyeatt, Bobby Franklin, Colby Alexander, Will Easter, John Ermis, & Blake Jones. That leaves a lot of holes for Williams and Staff to fill. On the bright side, Dalton Perry, & Justin Dellinger return both having been a huge part of the Championship run.
The Buccaneers will rely heavily on a very talented rising class to fill holes left by the departure of so many key players. This will make the 2012 Bucs a wait and see type of team, but it’s hard to count them out of anything after their brilliant run of 2011

From the dugout: “Last year was an amazing ride. We lost a lot of senior leadership and will be faced with the challenge of finding new people to take their place. We are encouraged from the success of our sub-varsity programs but the players will have to prove they can perform at the varsity level. We will return a group of 5 seniors that will have to take their experience from last year and help lead this year’s team.”
