Grant Reynolds: Head Coach
Coach Reynolds will be starting his 14th year at Boyd Buchanan School. This will be his 4th season as Head Coach. He was the defensive coordinator for 10 years. During that time the Bucs won 6 region Championships and 1 state championship and finished state runner-up 2 times. Since he has become the Head coach the Bucs have won 2 region Championships and finished the season 10-3 in 2008. Coach Reynolds played collegiately at Harding University in Searcy Arkansas. He is originally from Shreveport Louisiana and has been living in Chattanooga for 14 years. Coach Reynolds is married to Cindy and has 2 children. Libby 12 and John David 7. Both children attend BBS.
Dan Emery: Linebackers
Coach Emery graduated from Hixson High School in 1974. While at Hixson, he was a three sport letterman and earned All State honors in football. He signed with the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 1975. Coach Emery graduated from the University of Tennesee-Chattanooga in 1979, where he was a member of the 1977 and 1978 Southern Conference champions. This will be his fourth year on staff at Boyd-Buchanan.
Toby McKenzie: Quarterbacks
Coach Toby McKenzie was born and raised in Cleveland, TN. He graduated from Cleveland High School in 2001, where he participated in football and track. After high school, he played football for the Univeristy of Tennessee-Chattanooga Mocs. From 2005 to 2006, he was the running backs coach at Chattanooga Central High School. In 2007, he coached the defensive line at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School in Fort Oglethorpe, GA. Coach McKenzie took over the offensive coordinator duties at LFO in 2008. This is his first year with Boyd-Buchanan and he will be coaching the quarterbacks in 2009. Coach McKenzie is currently working on his teaching degree in Secondary Social Studies. He is married to Beth, and has lived in Chattanooga for 8 years.
Sam Montgomery: Offensive Line
Sam Montgomery graduated from Copper Basin High School in 1990. After graduation he attended Tennessee Wesleyan College and was a letterman for two years. When the football program at Wesleyan was cut, Sam transferred to the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He was redshirted and had a shoulder injury during his time at UAB. He set out for a year and then transferred to Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee. After playing football at Cumberland, he stayed and helped coach the defensive line and was the strength and conditioning coach. Sam left Cumberland in 2000 and began coaching high school football. He has been an assistant and head coach over the past 10 years. He is married to Ashley and has three children, Ethan 8, Owen 5, and Eli 5. They live in Jasper, Tennessee.
Steve Robbins: Defensive Coordinator
Coach Robbins is a native of Livingston, TN. He began his coaching career at Livingston Academy, where he coached both football and baseball for 12 years. He was the defensive coordinator at Livingston Academy for 10 years, and served as both assistant baseball coach and head coach. After a one year stint in Sevier County, where he was head Middle School football coach and head varsity baseball coach, Coach Robbins and his family moved to Ringgold, GA. He is the Dean of Students at Boyd-Buchanan, as well as Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach. He is married to Wendy, who is also employed at BBS as an accountant. They have two children, Brea, who is a fifth grader and Sawyer, a third grader. This is Coach Robbins fourth year at BBS and his second season on the football staff serving as defensive coordinator.
Todd Roland: Defensive Backs
Coach Todd Roland has been a part of BBS football since 1991. He has coached both sides of the ball. Defensively, he was the defensive coordinator for several years and coached defensive line, backs, and secondary. He moved to the offensive side of the ball two years ago and has coached offensive line, backs, and receivers. While at Boyd-Buchanan, Coach Roland has coached several varsity teams: Basketball (girls), wrestling, and baseball. He is currently head coach for MS baseball.
