Bound Brook Recreation: Welcome


The Bound Brook Recreation department offers a variety of programs for borough residents of all ages.  Recreation shares many resources with the borough's schools including our new recreation center, recreation fields, tennis courts and school gym facilities.

Registration for the Bound brook Recreation Boys’ and Girls’ winter Basketball programs grades 3rd thru 8th will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 1 to 4 at the new recreation facility.

Elks Hoop Shoot - This year we will be hosting the Elks Hoop Shoot, funded by the Elks National Foundation, it is a free throw shooting contest for boys and girls ages 8 to 13. Contestants’ age groups are determined by their age as of April 1st, 2016. Our local completion will be on November 14, 2015 held at the BB Recreation Center and registration will start promptly at 11 o’clock am.  For more information see the elks website at ELKS

RECREATION: We must have Volunteer coaches, who are Rutgers Certified, and enough players at every level to be able to put a team into this league. Boys and Girls Co-ed – Grades k – 2 clinic this will be a program based on teaching the fundamentals of the game while having some fun. It will be Saturdays from 9 to 10:30 starting October 2 to December 18. No games will be played at this level. Sign-ups are throughout the session for this program.

Boys and Girls – Grades 3rd and 4th for inter-town team play. This program is instructional in nature and the development of basketball skills is stressed. This program is for any child at any level of play to enjoy. They have limited games and one hour and a half practice a week starting in December depending on the coaches and gym availability. Games start Saturdays in January.

Boys and Girls – Grades 5th thru 8th for our inter-town Basketball League. These teams will compete against other towns in the Somerville Recreation Inter-town league and games will be played on Friday night or Saturdays beginning in January. They will have an hour and a half practice one day a week starting in December depending on the coaches and gym availability.

Travel Basketball Grades 5th thru 8th This is a competitive program for the children of BB and SBB. There will be 12 children excepted per team and they are required to try out for the team, meaning he/she may not make the team. If your child makes the team please be aware that practices are at the coaches discretion and may be longer than a normal recreation practice. Games will be played whenever there is gym availability. Children must be able to attend the try out dates – no exceptions. If your child makes the team, payment of $65.00 is due at the Recreation Department before the first practice, which starts the first week of November. Checks are to be made payable to Bound Brook Recreation Department. All try outs will be held in the new recreation facility.

Try outs will be held on Saturday, October 17th and Sunday, October 18th. Look below for your grade level and time.

BOYS 5-6 Saturday, October 17, 4:30 to 5:30 / Sunday, October 18, 8 to 9

BOYS 7-8 Saturday, October 17, 3:30 to 4:30 / Sunday, October, 18, 9 to 10

GIRLS 5-6 Grade – Saturday, October 17 10:30 to 11:30 / Sunday, October 18, 11 to 12

GIRLS 7-8 Grade – Saturday, October 17 11:30 to 12:30 / Sunday, October 18, 10 to 11

WRESTLING SIGN-UPS Will be held on October 10th and October 17th for grades 3rd thru 6th grade behind Bound Brook High School in the parking lot from 9 to 11. Practices will start November 17th @ 7:00, 3x a week in the Bound Brook High School Wrestling room and you will have 11 matches. Contact: Frank Northrup 732-356-3543

TENNIS OPPORTUNITY – US Sports institute is offering Tennis on Sunday mornings. Although the program has started you can still join in if interested. The program runs 9/13 to 10/25 for age groups 3 to 10 years of age they split from 9 to 9:50 for ages 3-5; 10 to 11 for ages 5-8; 11 to 12 for ages 8-10. Fall Yoga – “Fall in love with Yoga” with Kimber, Starting Sunday, October 4 – November 8 times are 7:30 to 8:30 @ the Bound Brook Recreation Center, 200 Thompson Avenue. You can register at the door it will cost $15 a class.

Adult Basketball League- We will be starting an 18 and over Adult Pick-up Basketball 10 week program. This will run from October 2nd to December 18, 2015. It will be on Fridays, 7 to 10pm at the New Recreation Facility. There will be a $25 dollar charge for BB Residents for the 10 week program and out of town will be allowed with resident and will be charged a $10 fee per session. No open gym on October 30 and November 27, 2015

****Fall Festival will be held at Codrington Park on Saturday, October 17, 2015, from 1 to 3 for children 1 to 10 years of age. There will be trick or treating in the park (wear your costumes), pumpkins to pick at 2:30 and games and crafts. Please come enjoy a day with your family. 

SOCCER - Fall soccer is currently in session.  Please note that Spring and Fall sign ups for 2016 will be held in February 2016 for both seasons.
