Basketball Update!
Due to the high turnout, we have separated the clinic into two groups;

 

Group 1 - Kindergarten-1st grade  9:00am-9:45am.

Clinic format

 

Group 2 - 2nd Grade 10:00 am -11:30 am.

Clinic format for the first hour and an intramural scrimmage for the last half hour 

 

Both clinics will be held at the Rec Center on Saturday mornings starting December 3rd (excluding December 24, 31, & January 7).  

If you have a child registered on a team you should have already received an e mail from the Recreation Coach.

If not, it may result in cancellation of the program for the season. Basketball and Wrestling Sign-ups

 Registration for the Bound Brook Recreation Boys’ and Girls’ winter basketball programs grades K-8 will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm at the new recreation facility (located at 200 Thompson Avenue). Registration forms can also be downloaded from our website but must be completed and handed in to Borough Hall by October 15 2016.

 

BOUND BROOK ELKS HOOP SHOOT:

This year we will be hosting the Elks Hoop Shoot for the second year, funded by the Elks National Foundation. Hoop Shoot is a free-throw shooting contest for boys and girls ages 8 to 13. This event is free and we encourage the community to come out and support our players as they compete for the chance to advance in this program. District Competition (winners of Local Competition): January 7, 2017 at the BB Recreation Center

*Contestants’ age groups are determined by their age as of April 1st, 2017. We will have a registration table for early sign-ups on October 15, 2016 from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm. If you cannot attend, we will accept registrations promptly at 9:00 am November 12.

Boys and Girls Co-Ed – Grades K – 2  Clinic:  This will be a program based on teaching the fundamentals of the game while having some fun. The clinic will be held on Saturdays 10 am to 11:15 am from December 3-February 25 excluding December 24, 31, and January 7. No games will be played at the Kindergarten and first grade levels. If numbers allow, the second grade group will be split into scrimmage teams and verse each other to develop game skills. Sign-ups are throughout the session for this program.

Boys and Girls – Grades 3rd and 4th: This program is instructional in nature and the development of basketball skills is emphasized. This program is for any child at any level of play to enjoy. Practices will be twice a week starting the first week of December. Coaches will reach out about practice dates and times the week of November 27th. All practices will run for an hour and a half. Games will be every Saturday starting January 7th, 2017. This league will face surrounding towns and will have a running clock.

Boys and Girls – Grades 5th thru 8th: These teams will compete against other towns in the Somerville Recreation Inter-town League. They will have an hour and a half practice 1-2 days a week starting in December. Games will be played on Friday night or Saturdays beginning in January. Coaches will reach out the week of November 27th about practice information.

Travel Basketball Grades 5th thru 8th    This is a competitive program for the children of BB and SBB. Teams have already been formed.

·       Games are subject to any day of the week according to gym availability.

·       Practice is twice a week starting the first week of November. Coaches will be in touch about dates and times.

·       Payment of $65 is due before the first practice- no exceptions. Checks can be made payable to Bound Broook Recreation.

·       12 children are accepted per team.

·       All try outs will be held in the new recreation facility.

WRESTLING SIGN-UPS: Saturday, October 15th and Saturday, October 22nd from 9 am to 11 am for BB and SBB students grades 3-6 behind Bound Brook High School in the parking lot. Practices will start November 15th at 7:00 pm, 3 times a week in the Bound Brook High School Wrestling room and end sharply at 8:15 pm. There will be 11 matches held on Saturdays.
