The Bound Brook Recreation department offers a variety of programs for borough residents of all ages.  Recreation shares many resources with the borough's schools including our new recreation cneter, recreation fields, tennis courts and school gym facilities.

Bound Brook RecreationTravel Basketball Grades 5th thru 8th

This is a competitive program for the children of BB and SBB. Children are required to try out for the team, meaning he/she may not make the team. If your child makes the team please be aware that practices are at the coaches discretion and may be longer than a normal recreation practice. Games will be played whenever there is gym availability. Children must be able to attend the try out dates – no exceptions. If your child makes the team, payment of $65.00 is due at the Recreation Department before the first practice, which starts the first week of November. Checks can be made payable to Bound Brook Recreation Department. All try outs will be held in the new recreation facility. Try outs will be held on Thursday, October 9th and Friday, October 10th. Bound Brook Recreation Basketball and Wrestling

Registration for the Bound brook Recreation Boys’ and Girls’ winter Basketball programs grades 3rd thru 8th will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 1 to 4 at the new recreation facility. Our recreation program is designed to teach fundamental skills and team play but most important encourage play for fun while learning the game. We will be offering the first time ever a k-2 co-ed Basketball Clinic on Saturdays starting October 11 to December 20 from 9 to 10:30 at the new recreation facility. The children also have the opportunity to try out for our completive travel team again this year. Try outs will be on Thursday, October 9th and Friday, October 10th at the new recreation facility. This will be a combination of Bound Brook and South Bound Brook children Grades 5th thru 8th with 12 children accepted on a team.

RECREATION: We must have Volunteer coaches, who are Rutgers Certified, and enough players at every level to be able to put a team into this league. If not it may result in cancellation of the program for the season. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Boys and Girls – Grades k – 2 this will be a program based on teaching the fundamentals of the game while having some fun. It will be Saturdays from 9 to 10:30 starting October 11 to December 20. No games will be played at this level.

Boys and Girls - Grades 3rd and 4th - for inter-town team play. This program is instructional in nature and the development of basketball skills is stressed. This program is for any child at any level of play to enjoy. They have limited games and one hour and a half practice a week starting in December depending on the coaches and gym availability.

Boys and Girls – Grades 5th thru 8th for our inter-town Basketball League. These teams will compete against other towns in the Somerville Recreation Inter-town league and games will be played on Friday night or Saturdays beginning in January. They will have a hour and a half practice one day a week starting in December depending on the coaches and gym availability.

WRESTLING SIGN-UPS October 11th and October 18th for grades 3rd thru 8th grade behind Bound Brook High School in the parking lot from 9 to 11. Practices will start in November 2x a week in the Bound Brook High School Wrestling room.

TENNIS OPPORTUNITY – US Sports institute is offering Tennis on Sunday mornings. Although the program has started you can still join in if interested. Ages 5 to 8 program runs 9/14 to 10/26 from 9:15 to 10:15 and Ages 8 to 10 runs 9/14 to 10/26 from 10:15 to 11:15. Fall Soccer – There is a k-2 soccer clinic offered on Saturdays, at Codrington Park from 1 to 2. This program is to get the kids use to the soccer terms and to be able to get active and kick the ball around. This is also a co-ed and no games will be played.

Adult Basketball League- We will be starting an 18 and over Adult Pick-up Basketball 10 week program. This will run from October 17th to December 21, 2014. It will be 2 days a week Fridays from 8:3o to 11 and Sundays from 7 to 10 at the New Recreation Facility. There will be a $25 dollar charge for BB Residents for the 10 week program and out of town there will be allowed with resident and is a charge of $10 a session.

****Fall Festival will be held early this year Saturday, October 4, 2014, from 1 to 3 for children 1 to 10 years of age. There will be trick or treating in the park (wear your costumes), pumpkins to pick, games and crafts come enjoy a day with your family. ****

 

Gym Rental 

Gym rental rates are as follows:

$45/hour for Monday-Thursday

$65/hour for Friday-Sunday

There is a mandatory $25 application fee in addition to the hourly rental cost.  Rental dates and times will be based on availability.  Any use other than ordinay use (i.e. basketball, volleyball, etc.) will require approval prior to any rental agreement being accepted.    

Proof of insurance is REQUIRED in order to rent the facility - no exceptions.

THE BOUND BROOK RECREATION COMMISSION MEETS EVERY FOURTH WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH AT 7:30PM IN THE BEN MAGGIO RECREATION CENTER, THOMPSON AVENUE.  THE MEETING IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.  THE COMMUNITY'S INPUT IS GREATLY ENCOURAGED...
