Regional and State Qualifiers
Our team took 8 wrestlers to regionals, Charlie Pumel, Kole Ficken, Joel Concannon, Dallas Pumel, Morgan Carter, Dylan Snapp, Brennan Hammers, and Kyle Cook. Cook, D Pumel and Ficken advanced on to state by finishing in the top 4. Concannon and Carter were alternates taking 5th place. Good Luck to our boys at state.

Rookie State took place at the St. Joseph Civic Center on Sunday. The state tournament is only open to six and unders and first year wrestlers at the other age groups and had over 800 entries.
For the 6U Gabriel Bullard was in the 50 pound class. He lost his first round match to Pierson Tichenor of Marshall. He then defeated Junior Bushery of Marceline by fall in the first round wrestlebacks. He lost his second round wrestleback match to Caden Green of Kearney. Hayden Alley wrestled in the 6U 60 pound class. He lost his first round match to tournament champion Rocky Elam of Team Central by pin then lost to Tanner Dalinghaus of Lathrop.
In the 8U Jared Viertel competed at 70 pounds. He lost his first match to Justin Niehaus of Carrolton by technical fall. He the defeated Drake Matthews of Harrisonville 6-0 and pinned Jake Sullivan of Holden. He lost in the wrestleback semifinals to Ben Weaver of Lee's Summit 12-3. He won his final match against Evan Burton 11-5 to take 5th place. Evan Alley competed in the 80 pound class. He lost to Mason Russell of Smithton then defeated Darryl Hawkins of Liberty by t-fall and then lost the 5th place match to Colton Hoover of Savannah.
Tyler Wine was the only Boonville entry at 10U. He competed in the 65 pound class. Tyler won his quarterfinal match against Colton Evans of Reed Springs 8-2. he then lost in the semis to Philip Lagford 17-7. He then lost in the wrestleback semis to Austin Ballard and faced Colton Evans again in the 5th place match but lost 4-2 to take 6th.
No 12U entries, at 14U Dylan Snapp took 4th. He lost his semifinal match to Issa Al Yatee, of Timberlake then lost the third place match to Joseph Discalli of Kearney. Jackson Adair won his semifinal match against Nick Culter of Wentzville by pin then lost in the finals 17-7 to Tyler Archer of Jefferson City.
Knob Noster. Several of our experienced wrestlers competed in the Knob Noster Open on Sunday. Brennan Hammers took first place in 14U hwt by defeating Christian Cates twice by pin. Joel Concannon took 2nd in 10U 100 pounds. He lost to Austin Nye of Lawson by pin then defeated Jackson Green and Zachary Bloemkes of Warrensburg, Logan Crump of Lexington and Cody Bulifant all by pin. Remington Hammers took 3rd place. He lost to Seaton of Bonner Springs KS in the semifinals then defeated Logan Chavez of Carrolton by pin in the wrestle backs and then defeated Danny Silva by pin in the third place match. Kole Ficken took third in the 10U 90 pound class. He lost to Austin Nye of Lawson and Hunter Vanlue of Diamond but then came back and pinned Andrew Eaton of Lexington and Morgan Hackleman Warrensburg to take third. Charlie Pumel took 4th place in 8U 75 pounds. He won his first match 13 -3 against Adam Patrick he then lost in the semis to Kolby Estes of Warsaw. He then won the wrestleback to advance to the third place match where he again lost to Kolby Estes to take fourth. Also competing for the Pirates was Rory Concannon who took 4th place at 12U 90 and Morgan Carter who took 5th at 14U 100.

Jays Results
The Boonslick YMCA Youth Wrestling Club took 12 wrestlers to the Jefferson City Jays tournament on Saturday, February 8. Over 500 wrestlers participated in the tournament. Taking first place for Boonville was Remington Hammers and Jordan Bledsoe. Taking second was Evan Alley, Joel Concannon, Dallas Pumel and Kyle Cook. Also participating was Charlie Pumel, Rory Concannon, Peyton Hahn, Hayden Alley, Wyatt Grizzle, and Ethan Gunderson.

Jordan Bledsoe - 14U 114B - defeated Mason Davis of Osage and Dylan verhoff of Westphalia by pin.

Joel Concannon- 10U 100A - lost to Landon Wiswall of Columbia 16-1, defeated Gaven Strobel of Jeff City 10-0, defeated Kennedy Basham of Camdenton 4-2, defeated Luke Berrey of Fulton 2-0 and defeated Riley Boeckman 15-0.
Note the 10U class has unofficial state rankings on the Missouri USA Wrestling webpage. Luke Berrey is currently ranked 7th, Joel is ranked 8th and Landon (who is Beverly Linhardt's grandson) is ranked 4th.
Evan Alley - 8U 80A lost to Martin McBee of Columbia by pin, defeated Connor Wilson of Jeff City 11-2 and defeated Sam Fatherly also of the Jays 7-4.
Dallas Pumel - 12U HWT lost to Chandler Becker of Tri-Cap and defeated Trever Dunmire of Fulton.
Kyle Cook - did not turn in a bracket but won 3 matches and lost 1 in the 14U 175 pound class
4th place - Rory Concannon, Hayden Alley, Wyatt Grizzle, Charlie Pumel and Ethan Gunderson.

Moberly Results 12/20
The Boonslick YMCA Youth Wrestling Club took 13 wrestlers to the Moberly Tournament on Sunday, December 21. The tournament had 290 entries in 5 age groups. Taking first place for Boonslick was Remington Hammers in the 10 and under 70 pound bracket. Remington pinned all three of his opponents in his bracket. His opponents were Nicholas Barnes, Columbia, Brandon Whitaker, Centralia, and Tyler Barton of Fulton. Boonslick had 5 wrestlers take 2nd place. They were Brennan Hammers, 14U 190, Dallas Pummel 12U heavyweight, Joel Concannon 10U 100, Hayden Alley 6U 60, and Ethan Gunderson 6U 45. Brennan pinned his first two opponents, Eli Whilhite of Moberly and Justin Hawkins of Centralia. He was then pinned in his final match by Blake Blair of Edwardsville. Dallas lost his first match to Sam Pearman of Centralia by a pin but then bounced back to win his next two matches by pin defeating Trevor Dunmire of Fulton and Blake Taft, unafflitated wrestler. Joel was in a very tough bracket and lost his first two matches to Eyan Yost of Kirksville 13-1 and was pinned by Luke Perry of Hannibal. He then took the win over Weston Dawson of Moberly and since Weston had defeated Perry, this put Joel in 2nd place. For Hayden and Ethan, this was their first wrestling tournament. Hayden was in a 3 man bracket and won his first match 19 to 9 over Jarrison Leighton of Centralia. He was then defeated by Sheldon Johnson of Mexico in his final match. Ethan lost his first match to Jackson Caswell of Fulton by a pin. Ethan then won his last two matches over Keith Ranson of Mexico and pinned Cadon White of Hannibal. Boonslick also had several other wrestlers participate, for many of them it was their first tournament. Other wrestlers were Brant Whitaker, 6U 50, Peyton Hahn, 6U 50, Charlie Pummel 8U 70, Evan Alley 8U 80, Jared Viertel 8U 65, Tyler Wine 10U 65, Rory Concannon 12U 90. Brant lost 6 - 9 to Spencer Jones of Hannibal and then lost by pin to Carter Smith of Hannibal and Seth Brenner of Eierman. Peyton lost by pin to Hunter Gibbons of Hannibal, Andrew Galawe of Moberly, and Sam Hiaborski of Fulton. Charlie lost by pin to Ryan Spher of Mexico, Jayce England of Centralia, and Andrew Whilhite of Moberly. Evan lost to Skyler Galleger of Centralia 16-2, to Collin Smith 8-3 to Dalton Lawrence 3-0 and Connor Tiechner 4-0. Jared Viertel lost to nikolai Pihlstrom of Kirksville, Kellen Ekhern of Mexico, Cade Vanskilce of Centralia, and Connor Barnes of Columbia. Tyler Wine lost 8-2 to Andrew Shea of Eierman Elite and lost to Luke Vitt of Moberly and Devan Hudson of Columbia. Rory Concannon lost by pin to dominic Guthrie of Moberly and Scott Sparks of Mexico. He then lost 8-4 to Derek Parson of Moberly.

Blair Oaks Results 1/3
The Boonslick YMCA Youth Wrestling team sent 9 members to the Blair Oaks Tournament on Saturday. The wrestling was very tough but Morgan Carter brought home a first place trophy and Kole Ficken and Greyson Mesik finished second. Also, Ethan Gunderson, Peyton Hahn and Kyle Cook took 3rd and Zane Mesik, Ryder Mesik, and Joel Concannon took 4th. Morgan Carter 14U 95 pounds defeated both of his opponents, Jon Niekamp, TRI-CAP- by pin in 1st Pd. and Gerry Mitchell, St. James- by pin in 1st Pd. to place first in his bracket. Kole Ficken, 10U 80 pounds, started by pinning John Giovanni. He then defeated London of the Jays by pin as well. Kole was then beat by Jennings of Columbia to take second. Greyson Mesik, 6U 80 pounds, defeated his first two opponents, Owen Dutton and Layton Wilson. He then lost his final match to Riley Cort. He was winning his final match 12 to 5 when late in the second period he got caught and was pinned. Ethan Gunderson, 6U 45 pounds lost his first match to Hrabrowsky of Fulton 18-3. He then won his second match 11-9 over Davidson of Moberly. He lost his final match to Flothe 6 to 10 to take 3rd place. Kyle Cook took 3rd in 14U 180 pounds. He won his first match by fall but then lost the next two. Peyton Hahn, 6U 50 pounds, lost both matches in a three man bracket. Zane Mesik, 8U 65 pounds, had a very tough bracket and lost to Louks, Holliman and Schnieders. Ryder Mesik, 12U 120 pounds, also had a tough bracket and lost to Maples, Niedergerke, and Mudd. Joel Concannon took 4th place in a very tough bracket in which all of his opponents were former state placers. In his first match he wrestled Aaron Sims of Marshall and was pinned at the end of the first period. His second match was against Josh Watson of Mexico which he lost 13-2. In his final match he was pinned in the thrid period by Tanner Schilling of Kirksville. Next week the club will travel to Hannibal.

The following wrestlers took first place – Kyle Cook 14U 180 and Hayden Alley 6U 60
Kyle defeated Anthony Brower of Mexico by pin in his first and won the second by forfeit.
Hayden defeated both Breckin Whitaker of Mexico and Gary Culp of Hannibal by falls.
The following wrestlers took second place – Joel Concannon 10U 100, Brennan Hammers 14U 200, Klayton Anderson 10U 75, and Remington Hammers 10U 70, Dylan Snapp 14U 115 and Charlie Pumel 8U 70
Joel Concannon lost to Luke Perry of Fulton 2-1 and then defeated Keith Durham of Kirksville 4-2 in triple overtime.
Brennan Hammers defeated Dallas Pumel also of Boonslick by pin then lost to Jake Borgimeier of Hannibal by pin.
Klayton Anderson defeated Clay Jeffey of Mexico by pin then defeated Ethan Zumwalt of Hannibal 8-6 in overtime. He then lost the final match to Hunter Giovanni of Kirksville by pin in the third period.
Remington Hammers defeated both Micheal Carlin of Fulton and Connor Ortman unaffiliated by pin then lost to Noah Robertson of Quincy, Illinois 2-7.
Dylan Snapp lost all three matches to Gage Stephens of Quincy IL. He was in a 2 man bracket. Dylan lost the first two matches by pin and then lost the third match by a technical fall.
Charlie Pumel defeated Joseph Culp of Quincy IL and lost to Elliot Fox.
The following wrestlers took 3rd place – Jackson Adair 14U 135, Peyton Hahn 6U 50, Dallas Pumel 14U 200, and Morgan Carter 14U 95, Wyatt Grizzle 10U 85
Jackson Adair pinned Trevor Ward of Mexico then lost 9-5 to Eunas Taha of Moberly and scratched his final match.
Peyton Hahn lost his first match by pin to Grant Brightwell of Centralia, he then defeated Angel Nichols of Mexico 2-1 and lost his final match to Hunter Gibbons of Hannibal.
Dallas Pumel lost both matches by pin to Brennan Hammers and Jake Borgemeyer. Dallas had to wrestle up an age group due to lack of entries.
Morgan Carter lost to Jacob Mclain of Kirksville and Nick Kelly of Moberly, he then defeated Sam Merenda of Kirksville with a 1st period pin.
Wyatt lost both matches in his bracket.
The following wrestlers took fourth, Evan Alley, 8U 85 and Rory Concannon 12U 85.

Ethan Gunderson – 6U 45 pounds - defeated Carter of MO West 13-8 lost to Dane Warr by pin. 4th place – Evan Alley 8U 85 pounds - lost 12-2 to Kevin Garpin of Grain Valley, lost 10-0 to Xavier Rodriguez and lost 6-4 to Trey Hudson of Grain Valley. The Odessa Novice Tournament had 300 entries and is for first year wrestlers or second year wrestlers that had a losing season and have not won a tournament. Mizzou Youth Duals – Saturday, January 31- Mizzou hosted 290 youth wrestlers in exhibition matches before the Nebraska-Missouri dual. Each youth wrestler received one match and some had 2 or 3 depending on the size of the age group. The college wrestlers refereed the matches and served all participants pizza afterwards. Then the kids and their families got to stay and watch the college dual for free.
