April 15th CAPS Workshops Announced
The next round of college recruiting workshops and seminars will be held on Saturday April 15th. Please remember that if you have never gone to a CAPS workshop or seminar before you must first attend THE RECRUITING PROCESS seminar. Anyone entering their freshman year in high school (Fall 2006) or older may attend The Recruiting Process seminar on April 15th. The remaining seminars and workshops are for those that currently in their freshman, sophomore or junior years in high school.
Space is limited for all of these seminars and workshops so please make sure to RSVP as soon as possible. When you RSVP please make sure to let me know which seminar(s) or workshop(s) you will be attending. Once you RSVP you will be given directions to the location of the seminar and workshop approximately one week before April 15th.
The Recruiting Process — 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. This seminar provides an overview of the recruiting process in college soccer. You must attend this seminar prior to attending any other CAPS seminars or workshops.
NCAA Academic Eligibility — 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. This seminar outlines the NCAA initial eligibility requirements that every person must meet in order to compete at the Division I or Division II level.
Selecting A College Workshop — 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. This workshop is a follow-up to The Recruiting Process seminar. In that seminar everyone was given a project of creating a Top 15 College List and researching those colleges. At this workshop we review everyone’s Top 15 List and discuss the schools.
Communicating With College Coaches I — 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. This seminar reviews the importance of the Personal Profile and Recruitment Letter. In addition strategies for creating an effective personal profile and recruitment letter are reviewed.
Personal Profile/Recruitment Letter Workshop — 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. This workshop is a follow-up to the Communicating with College Coaches I seminar. In this workshop we review and discuss everyone’s personal profile and recruitment letter.
Communicating With College Coaches II — 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. This seminar covers strategies for communicating with college coaches that will be needed beginning sophomore year. The seminar includes a review of NCAA rules, when to communicate, how to communicate, unofficial visits etc...
Creating A Personal Recruitment Plan — 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This seminar outlines the partnership between CAPS and each family in the recruiting process. In addition the workshop is an opportunity to meet with each family and start creating an PRP that meets the individual needs of each player and family. Please make sure you bring all of your materials to this meeting including your Top 15 list, a sample cover letter, your personal profile, a list of the colleges you have contacted and a list of the colleges that have replied. Depending on the number of people attending this workshop we may need to set up individual meeting times.
Individual Personal Recruitment Meeting — If you have already had your initial meeting creating your Personal Recruitment Plan then you should schedule an individual PRP meeting to review how things are coming in the recruiting process. This meeting may take place anytime before 12:00 p.m. on Saturday or at another time.
