Boca '91 Girls Sweep Weekend
Coming off a great showing at US Club Regionals, the RCU Boca Jrs. '90 girls team (playing as Cavitt Academy) won both Super Y League games over the weekend against two teams from the Central Valley.

Saturday, Boca Jrs. took on the California Cougars from Stockton. The team got off to a sluggish first-half start but managed to take a 1-0 lead into the half. Left back Jennifer Ericson connected with forward Alli Kelly who gave her team the lead.

In the second half the team opened up the attack. Early in the second period midfielder Courtney Strombeck connected with Kelly who scored her second goal of the match.

Forward Timery Mueller added the last two goals of the match. First first came on a diagonal ball from Teagan Seaman. Mueller ran onto the ball in the box and slotted it home. Her second goal came from a brilliant left-footed cross by forward Mallory Creamer. Mueller touched home the perfectly placed bending ball.

Boca created numerous other opportunities due to the outstanding play of the forwards and midfielders Brianne Levinson, Seman, Danielle Lovato, Katie Furtado, and Strombeck.

"I thought we really picked up our play in the second half," said head coach Gabriel Bolton. "We were coming off an emotional week at the US Club Tournament so I expected us to have a little let down. However, I'm proud of the way the girls picked up their effort and performance against a good team."

On Sunday Boca Jrs. continued its winning ways against Cal Odyssey from Fresno. The game was scoreless going into half-time. While the Boca team had numerous opportunities, the defense of goalkeeper Erin Rost, and backs Nicole Wilson, Rachel Rodman, Gabby Sanders, Stephanie Collins, Ericson, and Alex Del Agua allowed very few opportunities.

Early in the second half Boca finally struck when Lovato sent a diagonal pass to Creamer. With a terrific slashing run Creamer beat the defender and dribbled the goalkeeper which allowed her to place the ball into an empty net.

Late in the game forward Natalie Perez scored when she followed a great shot by Kelly which gave Boca the 2-0 victory.

"We played a great game for 70 minutes," said Bolton. "It was great to see us put together such an outstanding performance against a very good team."
