Boca '91 Sweep Weekend In Y League Play
The Boca Juniors '91 team playing Super Y League under Cavitt Academy swept through the weekend of Y League play.

The team opened with a 2-1 win over the De Anza Force on Saturday. The Boca Jrs. '91 team opened the scoring early in the first half when forward Natalie Perez dribbled past 3 defenders and slipped a great thru pass to center midfielder Rachel Mercik who placed the ball in the back of the net.

The second half saw numerous opportunities for the Boca '91 squad. They finally connected when midfielder Courtney Strombeck and forward Alli Kelly combined in the midfield with a wall pass. Strombeck took the pass and sent a long diagonal ball to forward Mallory Creamer who hit a rocket half-volley into the upper corner of the De Anza net.

De Anza tallied a goal late in the match but solid defending by Alex Del Agua, Nicole Wilson, Stephanie Collins, Jen Ericson, Gabby Sanders, Rachel Rodman and Erika Jaramillo only allowed the Force one goal.

"I thought the entire team played very well," said head coach Gabriel Bolton. "De Anza was a very good team and was very offensively minded. It was good to see the entire team perform so well especially on defense."

On Sunday the Boca '91 team took on Santa Clara Sporting for the second time the season. The first match ended in a 0-0 tie in Santa Clara. This time, on home soil, the Boca '91 team defeated Sporting 3-0.

The first goal came early in the first half when Kelly lofted a free kick into the box. Forward Timery Mueller chased down the rebound an hammered home a shot from 25 yards out to give the Boca team a 1-0 lead.

The second goal came early in the second half when left back Ericson played a pass wide to Mueller. Ericson overlapped Mueller who faked the pass wide and then dribbled inside. She found Perez at the top of the box who beat a defender and slipped the ball wide for Creamer who finished her second goal of the weekend.

Perez gathered her third assist of the weekend when she collected a long ball at midfield and played Mueller down the left flank. Mueller cut in front of her defender and finished the breakaway at the back post.

Goalkeeper Erin Rost was called upon to make two saves in the match.

"This was a terrific team effort against an outstanding squad," said Bolton. "It was great to see the girls perform at such a high level."

The Boca '91 team is currently in first place in Bracket A of the Super Y League. Next up they will play the Pleasanton Rage on Sunday May 22nd at 10:00 a.m. at Natomas High School.
