Subject: Soccer Practice Rules
Hello Everyone,

Today's first training session of the year got off on a disappointing note.  We had 5 players bring soccer balls that were actually usable.  Players arrived late.  And a number of players did not attend practice at all tonight and failed to communicate with me in advance.  All of these things had a serious impact on the quality of the training session.  As a result I’m establishing the following rules for training and games:

  1. Players are required to bring a soccer ball to all practices and games.  The ball must be inflated and of proper quality.  We are purchasing soccer balls as a team however this may take some time.  If you don’t already have a quality soccer ball at home please purchase one.  You only need one thing to be a soccer player and that is a soccer ball!  Every player should have 2 or 3 quality soccer balls at home so they can practice on their own.  If you need to borrow a ball from me until the soccer balls arrive let me know.  You can also possibly borrow a ball from a teammate.
  2. All players are required to have their own working ball pump.  These cost about $10.00.
  3. Players are expected to be early to training and ready to go.
  4. If you are going to miss a practice please call me ahead of time.  You must also email or call me the day of the practice to let me know you are going to be gone.  Please don’t just tell me two weeks in advance that you are going to miss a practice.  This does not apply to family vacations that I have on my calendar.  This is only for individual practices or games.
  5. As was the practice last year players who attend practice during the week will be given preference when it comes to playing time and starting positions.  This is to reward those players who attending training.

The players have been informed of the consequences of not having a soccer ball or ball pump starting Thursday at training.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Gabe
