I am a coach and parent of the Pittsburgh Power 12&U team which met up with the Bluejays 12&U twice last week at the 2003 PONY Nationals in Sterling. They were two of the most exciting and well played games we experienced all week - one ending in a tie and the other going extra innings. Your players and coaches also left a lasting impression on us as a very classy organization that participates in fastpitch softball for all the right reasons!
This message is not only to thank the 12&U team for their outstanding play and compliment them on the grace with which they carried themselves after a very tough loss, but to inquire as to whether anyone from your organization may have filmed at least a portion of our "Sweet 16" showdown on Friday evening. A somewhat strange request - but I know it is not uncommon for some parents to do so - and if there is any chance that even a portion of that game (particularly the 3 international tie-breaker innings)exists on tape, I would be extremely interested in doing/paying whatever it takes to obtain a copy.
The reason I am going to the extreme of leaving this inquiry is that it was my daughter who pitched those last three innings when our starter couldn't go any further - and got the final hit in the last inning. Thus, in spite of her team making it to the final, it is that "Sweet 16" game against the Bluejays that will always be the fondest of memories (for HER anyway!!)
Again, if anyone is aware of a tape of even a portion of that game, I'd greatly appreciate it if you could have them track me down - or let me know who I need to contact.
(For what it's worth - you guys looked like the best team we saw the whole tournament. I don't know how you've squared up throughout the year against that Shamrocks team that beat us in the final, but the Bluejays definitely looked to be the better of the 2 teams. You would have made it to the final had that hypothetical Friday night coin flipped the other way!
