Welcome to the Blackwater Nordic Ski Club
Our mission is to build a strong community of Nordic skiers in the Hopkinton area to provide support for our educational programs from BKL through high school race teams. Monday, December 28
Trails Reopened
Temps got (just) below freezing last night, and I groomed the outside skate loop this morning. The classic tracks are still there, too, though not crisp. Bring klister. Avoid the icy spot left of the entrance; it is water beneath. There are a few tiny bare spots, and the snow is pretty dirty in areas. And watch out for the footholes and dog leg holes toward the back. It's all pretty skiable, but not deep. Pray for snow. Get out there. Groomer Jeff

Trails Closed!
The trails will be closed at least until Monday depending on temps. We will let you know when we are up and running again! Wednesday, December 23
Great Conditions - Still Fast & Firm
The skate lanes were re-groomed this morning. The south hill is in tough shape, but you can get by the bare spots if you're determined. The rest of the skate trails are still in great shape. Amazing.
If you're classic skiing, you should have klister (or strong arms).
It's a very pleasant day. Get out there and enjoy prime conditions!

Firm Base Holding So Far
Outside skate loop was regroomed. A few new stretches of classic track were set. Still firm and fast. Skaters should be happy. Next groom: Wed. morning. Groomer Jeff Sunday, December 20
Very Nice Conditions
The skate lanes are refreshed today and the skiing is terrific for skaters. For classic striders, the tracks are good. Be sure you have klister or no-wax (scale) skis. WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT! If you aren't a member yet, grab a brochure from the box at the entrance and sign up! Enjoy it folks.

Still Firm, Still Fast
The outside skate loop has been re-groomed and is in great shape. Less wind today and tomorrow will help. The classic tracks are hard; no-wax skis or klister are best for now. Other skate lanes have been re-groomed and are in good condition, however... Be careful on the south hill: cover there is very thin and several rocks are exposed. More snow on the way Saturday night. Get out there and enjoy it! Groomer Jeff

Firm and Fast
Both of the outside loops were regroomed today. The skate lane is firm, but conditions should be good. The 2 sets of classic tracks have been ground up and reset. In many places the tracks are quite good, but there are crusty spots, and a single bare spot (in the outer track just after you enter the back field, if you are skiing counterclockwise). Pole plants should be excellent. Will someone order up a few inches of powder, please? Thanks. It's not bad. Get out there. Groomer Jeff Monday, December 14
Expected to be Soft Mon & Tues
Skiers, I was able to do a little grooming early this morning, but we expect it to be very warm and quite soft this afternoon and tomorrow. We don't have a very deep base yet, so we can do a lot of damage while temps are warm and snow is very soft. We ask that you stay off the trails this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon. If temps drop below freezing tonight, morning skiing will be okay. Thanks for your consideration! Groomer Jeff Friday, December 11
Open for the Season!
The main outside loop, including the back meadow, has been groomed with 2 sets of classic tracks and a 10' skate lane. The parking lot was plowed this morning. Conditions are pretty good. Get out and enjoy it! Groomer Jeff Thursday, December 10
New Snow!
Hi Skiers, We have about 6" of powder topped with an inch of crust. The main loop was rolled today, before warm temps and clumping snow forced us to stop. With colder weather overnight and tomorrow, we hope to groom the outside loop tomorrow, starting with classic tracks but also a skate lane if time allows. Get out there and stomp around!
