2008 FALKIRK STATE CUP UPDATES
News Flapping

The Falkirk showed very well in the Round #1 of State Cup on 3/29/08 & 3/30/08 with 2 wins and a forfeit earning them a spot in the Round of 16 on 4/26.

In the Round of 16, the Falkirk played a hard fought game against IUS and won earning their spot in the State Cup's Final Four.

On Friday, 5/16/08, 36 players, coaches & family members embarked on our chartered bus trip to Pensacola for the Final Four competion.  On Saturday the Falkirk played a strong team, Saa Real Madrid.  Although the final score 0-2 was a loss for the Falkirk, the score does not reflect the Falkirk successes.  Going into half time, the score was still 0-0.  Then shortly after the half Real Madrid scored.  It stayed that way until the last seconds of the game when Real Madrid were awarded a PK that realized another goal.  The next day Real Madrid beat RSL to become State Cup Champions.  The Falkirk's only loss was to the eventual champs.

We were very proud of the successes of the Falkirk throughout State Cup.  For more game details, click on the Schedule link in the left margin and then choose the State Cup tab.

GO FALKIRK!!

Congratulations to the Falkirk for a successful undefeated Club Director’s League (CDL) season.  The Falkirk’s win this past Saturday (10/27/07) marked the end of the 2007 CDL Fall Season and, with that win, they became the CDL U15 boys Champions.  This is the 2nd year in a row this team has achieved that honor.  Coach Roland and all the boys were proud to pose for this photo.  Congratulations to all of them for their hard work and team effort!  We are very proud of all of you.

The Falkirk look forward to proudly representing Black Watch Soccer Club at the Disney Soccer Showcase in December.  This tournament is ranked by many as the #1 youth soccer tournament in the U.S. and will host some of the best teams in the country.  The Falkirk are 1 of 5 Florida U15 boys teams that have been accepted to this tournament – a total of 44 U15 teams will be competing.  Best wishes to the Falkirk!

Although the Falkirk started off on a weak note, loosing to HCU (1-3) on Friday night of this past tournament weekend, they came back strong with wins against Jacksonville Fury (4-1) on Saturday and against East Lake (2-0) on Sunday.  Three teams ended up tied after our group play with 6 points each:  Falkirk, Jacksonville & HCU.  The 2nd tie breaker eliminated HCU from moving on to the Finals and it took until the 4th tie breaker where the Falkirk lost out by 1 goal scored to a team they had beat 4-1.  It was a great soccer weekend and we look forward to the rematch versus HCU this coming Saturday in our CDL game.  GO FALKIRK!!

U15 BLACK WATCH FALKIRK FINALISTS AT DISNEY SHOWCASE QUALIFIER

The U15 Falkirk showed well at the Disney Showcase Qualifier impressively winning all three of their qualifying games (Sunrise - 2-1, RSL Academy - 4-1 and Jacksonville - 3-0) earning their spot in the semi-finals against Orange County Sting.  That semi-final match is particularly where the Falkirk demonstrated their team work and dedication winning it in OT 2-1 against a very tough opponent to make it to the finals that afternoon.  The exhausted Falkirk continued to play very well holding the score in the finals to 0-0 until the last minutes of the first half against another RSL team, but then lost the fight 0-5.  We are very proud of these fourteen young men and their coach, Roland Moldovan - they gave everything they had to give that weekend and ended as finalists earning their spot in the Disney Showcase in December.  Congratulations to all!!

FALKIRK SHOW WELL AT DISNEY SHOWCASE
Disney Jr. Showcase Logo

Over the 2006 Thanksgiving  weekend the Falkirk played in the Disney Jr. Showcase, a premier national-level tournament.  Just to be accepted into this tournament was quite an achievement for our new team.  There were 32 teams in the U14 age group from 12 different states (only 6 teams were accepted from Florida).  This was some of the best competition in the country and we were excited to be part of the group!!  The Falkirk ended the tournament ranked 2nd in their group in qualifying play with 1 win, 1 loss and 1 tie.

Their first game was against a Texas North team, DFW Tejanos 93 Premier.  That was probably the best game all weekend.  It was a very competitive game and the teams were evenly matched.  It looked like the game would end in a 0-0 tie, but the Tejanos ended up with a fluke goal in the 68th minute.  The Falkirk were initially upset with the loss, but in the end they knew this game could have gone either way and they were please with how well they played.

Their second game was against the Charlotte SC 92 Blue (NC).  Although the Falkirk dominated the play, this game ended in a 2-2 tie.  Afterwards the players commented they were disappointment because that knew they should have won that game.

The third game was very exciting.  The Falkirk played a terrific game against Cobb FC Chiefs Gold (GA) under the lights at the Disney Wide World of Sports complex and won 2-1.  What a great way to end an exciting weekend for the team and their families.

FALKIRK WIN CDL
Believe and Achieve

Going in with 7 wins and 1 loss, the Falkirk added one more win to their CDL Fall league stats tonight when they beat Lakeland 3-1.

That win (bringing their league record to 8-1-0 and their full record to 16-4-3) clinched the CDL championship.  Way to go, Falkirk!!!

Without even a moment to celebrate, the Winter CDL schedule begins on 11/4.  Keep up the great work!!

Falkirk Show Well at Disney Showcase Qualifier over Labor Day

We were thrilled to be accepted to play in the Disney Wide World of Sports Showcase Qualifier over Labor Day Weekend.  What a great team weekend for the players and their families!!  Not only did the Falkirk play well winning their group, they gained some great experiences as this new team prepares for a strong State Cup run.  The Falkirk won their group with a win vs. Brandon (1-0), a tie vs. FC America (1-1) and a win vs. Darlington Soccer (5-1), but unfortunately ran out of steam in the semi-finals loosing to Orange County (0-4).  Orange County ended up the tournament winner after beating FC America (3-2) in the finals.

F4 Jamboree - A Good Soccer Weekend (8/19/06 & 8/20/06)

This was a good soccer weekend, wasn't it?  We are appreciative of the U14 Tampa Knights Kickers Coaching Staff for organizing the 3rd Annual F4 Jamboree and hosting such a great event!  The Falkirk accumulated many great experiences that will continue to help them grow as a team, help them stretch as players and help them to continue to learn to play as a team.

T
hanks to the players for working so hard in the heat.  Thanks to all the parents who got them there and cheered them on.  Thanks to Jill (Jonathan’s Mom) and Joe & Rosie (Josh’s parents) for bringing water coolers this weekend.  Thanks also to Jill for bringing those ice pack bags which were used several times this weekend.  And a special thanks to Roland for being so dedicated to our sons to help them be better soccer players and supportive teammates.

Falkirk Scrimmaged Ocala Arsenal (6-0) - 8/13/06
Our first scrimmage at home today!  We were thankful that the Ocala team was willing to come to Tampa and play on the Field of Dreams.  Coach Roland was able to try different line ups and game plans - nice to have the ability to experiment pre-season.  For the sideline fans, just in case you were wondering what the team did after scoring their first goal - the first Falkirk goal was dedicated to Ckalib who has been injured and experienced a family loss this week.  The goal was scored and all players ran over to Ckalib in celebration.  Hopefully, he is back on the pitch with the team next week.

Another great game by the Falkirk, but they have a lot more to accomplish so stay focused.  Your fans, though, are so excited to be watching you play!!  Thanks for working so hard!

Saturday, August 12
Falkirk Beats Strictly (3-0) - 8/12/06
Because it was pre-season, Coach Roland kept saying that the score in this scrimmage does not matter.  Their goal was to stay focused, play agressively and to work on plays, positioning, etc. as they've been practicing.  Well, the Falkirk not only did everything that Coach wanted, but they did it with heart and a first-to-the-ball mentality.  We have great respect for the abilities and successes of Strictly's team - they are a proven talent.  Because of that, we were all pleasantly surprised when the Falkirk went up 2-0 before the first water break with a 3rd goal in the 2nd half.  A 3-0 win against most teams is a real feather in a team's cap, but to win 3-0 playing Strictly, oh my!!  Keep it going team.  GO FALKIRK!!

Falkirk Enjoyed First Scrimmage beating Plant City (4-1) - 8/7/06

A special thanks to our gracious hosts tonight, the Plant City Lancers.  They have terrific fields and always give teams great competition.  We appreciate the opportunity to play our first scrimmage as both teams worked on their pre-season conditioning and strategy.

As for the Falkirk?  Oh, as Eric Cantana would say, "they played beautiful futbol!!"  Or in other words, "This is going to be a fun season!!!"  Thanks to Coach Roland and all the Falkirk, it was a lot of fun watching you play!!
