Team Manager: Kathleen Shelton - Cell (813) 310-8933
Welcome to the home of the Black Watch U16 Falkirk - 2008/2009 league season at Black Watch Soccer Club with fields located near Busch Gardens and University of South Florida in Tampa.
TRYOUTS FOR THE U16 FALKIRK were completed in early June; however, Coach Roland is looking for 1-2 more players to round out the Falkirk roster. If you are interested, please contact Coach Roland Moldovan or Team Manager Kathleen Shelton (contact info above).
In the Falkirk's U14 season, they were a newly formed team with the most advanced players from our previous season's U13 teams. It was an exciting season, but was just the beginning of what their dedication and hard work would bring in the future. The Falkirk then had a very successful U15 season. They were the: Club Director's League (CDL) Champions (a 2nd season in a row), 2007 Disney Showcase Qualifier Finalist, 2008 Score At The Shore Finalist and, most recently, 2008 State Cup Semi-Finalist. The Falkirk also have 1 US Soccer National team player, 2 USYS Region III regional ODP players & 4 FYSA State ODP players. In our upcoming U16 season, we continue to be coached by Roland Moldovan (Bio below) and will play in the CDL league and multiple college coach showcase level tournaments throughout the season and state cup.

CLUB & TEAM NAME HISTORY
When Black Watch Soccer Club was established in Tampa in the late 1970’s, some of its initial coaching staff was originally from Scotland. They chose to establish a rich Scottish heritage as part of the club’s atmosphere. The Black Watch (or the Royal Highland Regiment) was the premier independent Scottish infantry regiment in the British Army with roots dating back to the early 1600s. They became known as "The Black Watch" for the watch they kept on the Highlands of Scotland and from their dark colored tartan uniforms. Later they became the first kilted regiment in the British Army, and the first to march into battle to the rhythm of bagpipes. The history of the Black Watch Regiment is so rich in tradition and is honored at our club by our logo, the flags flown over our fields and the use of team names representing various famous brigades and historic battles.
Continuing the tradition, we were proud to announce the formation of a new premier team in our U14 season called the Falkirk. We are now starting our third second season (U16). The Falkirk name comes from the city of Falkirk which is located in the center of Scotland – famous for, among other things, 2 major historical battles in 1298 & 1746. In the 18th Century, the city served as the cradle for the Scottish industrial revolution and, since 1876, has been the home of the Falkirk, a professional Scottish Premier League team. We are proud of this tradition and hope to carry on similar traditions of honor and good sportsmanship as we play the game we love - SOCCER.
