Binghamton Figure Skating Club Spring Exhibition

On Saturday, March 28, 2009, we had our Spring Exhibition at the BCC Ice Center from 3:45 - 6:00 PM. Our special guest skater was Ramona Miller, 2007 Mid-Atlantic Junior Champion. Ramona, coached by Priscilla Hill in Delaware, recently won the Intermediate Ladies silver medal at the 2009 North Atlantic Sectional Competition, qualifying her for Junior Nationals. Thanks to all who performed in the show and came to watch! Come again for our next show on March 27, 2010, scheduled for 3:30 - 6:15 PM.

Binghamton Figure Skating Club Test Session

Congratulations to all skaters who passed their tests on Saturday, March 21, 2009. The next test session is scheduled for March 20, 2010.

CLUB MEMBERSHIP/ICE: FOR PRIVATE LESSONS AND PRACTICE
  • Club Ice is available for:
    • Practice.
    • Private lessons with a Professional Coach. Private lessons can start at any time and at any level. You can even take private lessons while participating in the Learn-to-Skate Program.
  • Club Ice times are available at BCC on Tuesdays, Saturdays & Sundays (at separate times from the Learn-to-Skate Program), and at the Arena on select Thursdays. See our Blue Club Ice brochure for details.
  • Contact the Binghamton Figure Skating Club for information on Club Ice, private lessons and Professional Coaches. Separate fees apply.

General Information

Skates

  • Figure and hockey rink skates are available for the lesson program and Parent Skate at no additional charge as long as supplies last.
  • Students are encouraged to provide their own skates, with strong ankle support and a snug fit. Purchased skates should be sharpened before the first lesson.
  • For information on purchasing new/used skates and sharpening blades, please contact the Binghamton Figure Skating Club (see below).

Clothing

  • Should allow for freedom of movement. Layered clothing is best.
  • Helmets/padding are strongly encouraged, especially for 4 and 5 year olds.
  • Gloves/mittens must be worn for hand protection or skating will not be permitted. Gloves can be purchased at the registration table.
  • Wear thin socks for a snug skate fit and better ankle support. Heavy socks can cause rubbing and a loose skate fit around the ankles.

Rules

  • The "practice" half-hour is for practicing skating techniques learned during lessons and for Parent Skate. Horseplay will not be tolerated. Safety is key to continued program success. Offenders will receive ONE warning. Failure to comply can result in removal from the program, without refund.
  • Food, beverage and gum are not permitted on the ice.
  • Animals are not permitted at the rink.

Questions

A Binghamton Figure Skating Club staffed information table will be set up during all Learn-to-Skate sessions to assist and answer your questions. You can also contact the Binghamton Figure Skating Club (see below), if you have any questions about programs, fees, payments or "GIFT CERTIFICATES".

Scholarships

A memorial sponsorship program is available for up to 5 children, who, for financial reasons, may not be able to otherwise participate in the Learn-to-Skate Program. Contact the Binghamton Figure Skating Club for more information (see below).

  • Since class space is limited, registrations are accepted on a first come, first served basis.
  • CONFIRMATION NOTICES ARE NOT MAILED. Plan to attend on day selected, unless you receive notification otherwise.
  • Classes will only be cancelled if the County declares a State of Emergency.
  • Your name(s) will automatically be added to the Binghamton Figure Skating Club mailing list for the 2009/2010 skating season.
